Frequently Asked Questions

Does is matter what size my team is?
No.  Any size group can participate with our teams.

Can you handle large groups?
Yes, we handle 100+ person groups every year.   Any size is not a problem.

What if I'm an individual and I want to join a team?
We have specific trips created just for individuals, small groups, couples, and families to join.

My group is large and we have specific needs.  Can we have a private trip?
We do lead private teams.  Please inquire to work out the details.

Is the only way to register online?
Yes! All registration is designed to be as simple and modern as possible, which includes online registration.

How about the $750 deposit?  Is that in addition to the per person fee?
No. The $750 deposit is to secure your place on that date. We then send a trip leading materials to you and your free consultations begin. The $750 deposit is deducted from your final team payment.

What ministries will we be doing?
Ministries will be determined by the largest team participating on the trip, though generally the smaller teams are able to participate in the ministries they prefer as well. Praying Pelican Mission trips are a genuine team effort.  Your team leader will hold at least one (usually more) conference call to get everyone together and coordinate ministries.

How do sleeping arrangements work?
Teams that select  a trip with standard sleeping accommodations will sleep on the floor of a church, school, or community center. They will be divided by gender, and men’s and women’s restrooms/showers will be available. Teams that choose a trip with hotel option usually sleep 3-5 people per room, with two people per double bed and individuals sleeping in single beds. All rooms are either male or female. There is no gender mixing.

What if I am travelling with my spouse and we are staying at a hotel?
Couples will be divided into gender-specific rooms.

What if our family wants to stay in the same hotel room?
Families may stay together in their own room, provided they have 3-5 people.

What’s included in the cost?
Everything you’ll need once you enter Belize or Jamaica: food, lodging, transportation, drinking water, a local sightseeing activity, and recreation!

What’s not included in the cost?
Airfare, passport, vaccinations, spending money, offering at church services, construction and/or ministry materials.

What language do they speak in Belize?
English. Belize is the only English-speaking country in Central America.

Is it safe?
Yes. We take extra precautions and lay down strict ground rules to ensure safety. Crime occurs in Belize and Jamaica just like everywhere else, but we have never had an incident of crime on a PPM trip.  We genuinely partner with people in Belize and Jamaica, so the local communities are always looking out for the well-being of our teams.

What about bugs, snakes, and other poisonous creatures?
Belize has its share of these animals, as does every tropical country on earth. The chance of seeing anything dangerous is very, very slim.  Jamaica has no poisonous snakes or spiders....just a lot of goats!

Can anyone go on a Praying Pelican Missions trip?
Absolutely. We welcome families with children, junior high, high school and college students, and adults of any age!

How do airline tickets work?
PPM has a partner travel agency, Triple Mango, that is available to handle all PPM teams.  PPM and Triple Mango work together to make sure all dates and times of your flights are coordinated appropriately to ensure the best mission experience possible!
