We finally arrived after an early morning and a flight delay. We saw some of the ocean and Jamaican culture around us as we were driven to Calvary Baptist Church, the church that we'll minister alongside this week. After getting settled in, we tried some jerk chicken, curried goat, and rice & peas. We are excited in spite of our lack of sleep and are encouraged by your prayers as we prepare for what's next.
Youth in Ministry

Yesterday we enjoyed a typical Sunday service at Calvary Baptist Church, toured the neighborhood a bit, then participated in Calvary Baptist's circuit Youth Expo, a worship service displaying the gifts of the circuit's youth. Today we dove into ministry at Calvary Baptist, Bogue Hill Baptist, and Salt Springs Baptist's vacation Bible schools. Tonight includes going to Garden Hall Children's Home, which cares for 30 youth between the ages of 6 and 18. We are loving experiencing Jamaican culture (example: food: we have consumed such things as jerk chicken, fried plantains, curried goat, fried dumplings, salt fish and collared greens for breakfast, and Jamaican patties), getting to know the kids in the community and each other better as we serve the Lord. Please continue to pray for us as God works in us and through us.
Day 4 in Jamaica, Mon!

After sharing Jesus' love with the happy children at Garland Children's Home last night, we woke up to another busy day of VBS. We divided up into the same 3 groups and went to the same 3 churches as yesterday. However, the day was new and different; each church aquired more children than the day before, allowing for relationships to begin as well as deepen. We are looking forward to a youth social night at Calvary of games (especially football...aka soccer), hangin out, food, and new Jamaican friends. Please continue to pray for us as we experience and share Christ on this wonderful island.

The trip is almost at a close! The group is enjoying a well deserved, and much needed, day at the beach. The youth have had there choice between swimming, snorkeling, shopping, and sunburning. Yesterday was a full day of ministry including Vacation BIble School, a visit to an orphanage, and a Bible study with adults from the church. In reflection last night, It was truly amazing to hear the ways God is touching the hearts of the Jamaicans as well our group!!!
