by Molly Mathers
June 24, 2012 at 08:47 AM

PPM staff is excited for the team to land in Belize in a few hours! When they arrive we'll make the hour drive north to Guinea Grass. We're looking forward to the welcome service in the village tonight and getting to know everyone.

Internet service is limited. We will put up pictures and updates as possible.

Team has arrived!

The team has arrived safely! We drove from the airport to Guinea Grass and got settled in. We were welcomed with dinner and a huge church service with bilinual worship and teaching. After a team meeting where we got to hear a little of each other's hearts we went to bed. Everyone was exhausted after a long day of travel, but in good spirits.

Today is our fist day of ministry. It's hot and humid out, but everyone is doing a fantastic job!

Internet is very hard to come by but we will post as frequently as possible. Thank you for praying for us!! God is at work here.

VBS

June 27, 2012 at 04:01 PM

We have had an extremely successful start to our week of VBS. On the first day we had 180 kids come and the second day we had over 220 kids; these numbers are incredible considering the size of the community! So many kids keeps us busy but it has been very fulfilling. We're becoming rather attached to all of the children already!

Pastor Tim has been the most popular guy around because of his balloon animals!

The team has been working on adding a roof to part of the church this week. This is the "before" picture. We will post the completed roof once it's finished.

Youth Service

June 27, 2012 at 04:37 PM

We had a youth service on Monday night with our group and 30+ local teenagers. Our group taught the Belizeans how to play Ninja.. they loved it just as much as we do! A few of us shared our testimonies and we had a time of worship... all in the midst of an incredibly loud rainstorm!

Mayan Ruins

June 27, 2012 at 10:46 PM

This morning we went to the old Mayan city of Lamanai to see the ruins. Most of us made the long climb to the top of the highest ruin and were rewarded with an incredible view. Then we got to eat a delicacy from the US- PB&J! Everyone was happy to see such a familiar food.

Wednesday Service
by Molly Mathers
June 27, 2012 at 10:52 PM

We just finished up a church service for the community that we put on. We had a time of worship and sharing testimonies. It was a small picture of what heaven will look like: people of all ages and races coming together in reverence to worship the same God. Such a beautiful time together!

Construction Day

June 28, 2012 at 06:24 PM

The group got a lot of progress done on a few construction projects at the church. Everyone worked hard together to improve the building of the church. Pastor Russell is especially excited about the electricity finally working in the church again.

Last ministry day
by Molly Mathers
June 30, 2012 at 08:05 AM

Friday was the last day of ministry for our team. We finished up the week of VBS and continued to work hard on the construction projects. Some played volleyball- Belize vs. USA. We had a lot of time to continue the relationships that have been formed.

In the evening Rock of Ages Church had a commissioning service for us. We worshipped together, expressed our gratitude for each other, and had a time of prayer for each church. We closed out the service by playing 'How Great Is Our God' with both Belizean and US band members in both Spanish and English. Wow, what a privilege to be a part of that kind of community! It's incredibly fulfilling to find that kind of solidarity with other believers; it's what we're called to do as the Church.

Headed home!

This morning we packed up, had one last meal, and had one last meeting to wrap up the trip. We got to hear what God has been doing in each other's lives and relax with everyone one last time while looking out on a beautiful lake.

The team was dropped off at the airport and will be flying out shortly. PPM staff is blessed to have worked with such a hard working and God honoring team this week. Thank y'all for all of your hard work and investing in all of the people you encountered. God was truly glorified!
