Belize greeted us nicely today! Thanks for all of your prayers so far! Please continue to pray for us throughout the week as we minister to the people of Belize City through VBS, youth ministry and construction. We met Pastor Brown of Calvary Baptist Church, where we will be serving this week. We also went for a walk through the neighborhood to invite kids and families to the church services throughout the week. Tomorrow we get to enjoy a true Belizean Baptist Church service in the morning, have a fun event for the youth in the afternoon and lead worship in the evening. Pray that God's name be glorified and that we would follow wherever God leads us this week! Thanks!

Sunday Services!

This morning we worshiped with Pastor Brown and his congregation at Calvary Baptist Church. We sang lots of new worship songs and praise the Lord the Belizean culture way. After morning service and Sunday school we had some time to plan for the youth service we had this afternoon. We played some fun games, worshiped the Lord with music and a skit. After the youth service, and a few hours to plan and relax we had another service for the whole church in the evening. Tomorrow we start our construction project working on a youth center behind the church, and begin our first day of VBS! Pray for safety, strength and guidance for our team tomorrow during each project. Thanks!

Working Hard!

Today started our first full day of ministry! Some of us began bright and early with packing dirt for the foundation of the youth building while the rest of us went walking through the neighborhood engaging in conversational evangelism. We went into many homes and talked with many families telling them about Jesus and the love of God as well as inviting them to every church event that is going on this week. We then held our first day of VBS. We had lots and lots of kids show up ready to have fun and learn about Jesus. We even saw some of the families that we visited in the morning there for VBS! Praise the Lord! We also did another youth service. The youth seemed to have a blast playing the games and we heard a great message about building our foundation on the Lord! Tomorrow we will be doing the same thing. Pray for more kids to come to VBS to hear about Jesus and that we might share the Gospel boldly to the people. Pray also for safety for the construction!

Terrific Tuesday

Some of us started the day off VERY early doing construction so that we could try and be more productive before it got too hot outside. We got a LOT accomplished today. We are just about ready to start pouring the concrete for the foundation of this youth center! Praise God! We also had the opportunity to go out into the community again and engage in some prayer walking as well as some home visits and getting to pray for people and converse with them in their homes! It was such a blessing! We invited them to the VBS that we had today where we talked about Zacchaeus, the weeeee little man. The kids seemed to enjoy the story and the play. We had over 150 little ones running around and playing. We all had a blast loving on these kids and just letting them love on us. Tonight we had another youth service. Even more youth than yesterday showed up and participated in the fun games, the worship and listened to a lesson that Brad gave about being the body of Christ. It connected well with the skit that was performed at the beginning, a skit to "Can anybody hear her" by Casting Crowns. Pray for tomorrow as we go check out some Mayan Ruins before we have VBS. Pray for safety, patience, and boldness as we reach these kids, youths and their families tomorrow at every service. Thanks for all of your prayers so far! God Bless!

Wonderful Wednesday!

We started our day off at the Mayan Ruins of Altun-Ha, which means Rockstone Water (we learned that today, along with lots of other interesting facts) After exploring the ruins we headed back to the church for another day of VBS. We had over 100 kids again and we had a great time playing and hanging out with them. Today was our last day with them! It feels like this week flew by! We even got to see the concrete be poured and smoothed out for the youth center! It's so awesome to see all the work that was accomplished this week! We also had another youth service and a farewell/celebration service for us. We had communion with the church and worshiped one last time the other half of the team from Alabama. Tomorrow we head to the Caye to relax after a hard week's work. Pray for safety as we get ready to head home on Friday!
