Sunday Morning Serviceby Sarah June 18, 2012 at 09:45 PM This morning we had the wonderful experience of leading Sunday school and the main service! There were two Sunday school classes one for children and one for adults! During the service we sang and shared testimonies!! Malachi played the ukulele for us.
Sunday Eveningby Sarah June 18, 2012 at 09:47 PM The Sunday evening service was extremely fun! The mostly Spanish speaking church led the worship music and the pastor’s nephew helped translate for us! Andrew led a children’s sermon called the “Big Red Tractor” and Megan led the children in songs they learned during Sunday school. The church was packed and many people had to stand! We are looking forward to working with this church the rest of the week!
A Full Monday in Orange Walkby Holly June 18, 2012 at 09:55 PM What started out as a drizzly, grey day turned gorgeous as we headed out for a full day of ministry. This morning, the team split into groups and walked around the church's neighborhood in Trial Farm village, just meeting folks, hearing their stories and encouraging and praying with them. Each group was struck by the happiness in the midst of few material possessions. We had a delicious meal of tamales for lunch before heading to the Presbyterian school in town to spend time with kids in the classrooms. They had such a great time that nobody wanted to leave and we're looking forward to getting back later this week. Then we rode back over to a field near the church for some sports ministry. Only a few kids showed up at first, but within half an hour the field was filled with kids playing soccer, frisbee, hitting a volleyball around, braiding friendship bracelets and coloring and making chalk drawings on the road. With an awesome day like this, we trust that things will keep getting even better!
More Ministry & Mayan Culture
by Holly June 19, 2012 at 10:08 PM This morning, we spent time visiting more homes in a different area of Trial Farm. Once again, the team had wonderful interactions with the individuals and families they met and were touched by their joy and generosity. After lunch, we headed to Lamanai, a world famous Mayan archaeological site. It was an impacting experience for the group as the views from the top of the temples was breathtaking - not to mention the victory that came from conquering a fear of heights shared by many :) The four hour round trip on bumpy roads was tiring, so it looks like an earlier night to prepare for our last full day of ministry!
