This week we are serving together as one large Pelican family in union with Cornerstone Church from Virgina and the Frazier family from Tennesee. We will be spreading the love of Jesus to the community of Ladyville alongside Ladyville Baptist Church in Belize. Plans are set to construct the ceiling of the new church building, serve in the preschool and out on the sports fields, and love on people at Sister Cecilia's elderly home. Please join us by praying for us throughout the week AND post encouraging comments to the right using the password "serve."

Afterwards, Pastor Barbara brought the Word on "What Jesus looks like". Lunch was once again provided by the members of the church... Belizean Sunday Dinner... Just can't get enough!!!

Youth Hostel!

June 24, 2012 at 11:45 PM

What a great afternoon!!! We visited the kids at the youth hostel today. These youths are there for behavioral problems so it was nice to just share God's love with them and to encourage them to not give up on their lives. We also prepared a skit and rallied them up for sports. It's amazing how the smallest gestures make big differences!!

Day 3... Team Work!
by PPM staff
June 25, 2012 at 10:30 PM

Today was awesome!!!! It was a very long day but we got so much done. We went to Ladyville Baptist Church this morning and went straight into the different ministries. Some of us helped out in the preschool next to the church. The kids were so adorable as they were practicing for their graduation this Thursday... Cant wait to see how it turns out! While this was happening, others lead a prayer walk and house evangelism. Many people were inspired but we were also inspired by many. It's always a blessing sharing the gospel of Christ with others and to have the opportunity to pray with them. Our heaviest task for the day was the painting job... but we tackled it with everything we had despite the heat. Our goal is to enclose the entire church ceiling and to finish the painting. It was nice seeing how far we got. With team work.... and God on our side, TODAY WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Day 4!!!
by PPM staff
June 26, 2012 at 10:37 PM

We separated into two groups this morning. Some of us went back to the church to continue with the painting while the others headed over to "Sister Cecelia's Nursing Home". We had a blast there!!! We sang songs with the elderly and got them moving with some dancing and exercise. It was great seeing the joy within them because of this. We made new bonds, and friendships were built just by sharing God's love with others!

Altun Ha!!
by PPM staff
June 26, 2012 at 11:00 PM

We had a wonderful afternoon!! First we went to "Mayan Well's Restaurant" for a deliciously prepared Belizean meal. It was very beautiful there... nature at its best in the backyard. We even got to meet "Sweetie"... A howler monkey. It was so awesome!! We got to fed it coconuts and it was the cutest thing ever. None-the-less, our adventure didn't stop here. We then continued on our journey to Altun ha... A Mayan site here in Belize. It was a great experience! The temples there are so spectacular and they are all in their original forms, dating from before the birth of Christ. We climbed up to the very top of them and the view was breath taking. We got to see crocodiles and tarantulas too! It was truly an adventure!!!

Painting Complete!
by PPM staff
June 27, 2012 at 11:34 PM

Starting the day in prayer is the recipe for a great day! We got straight into our different ministries upon arrival at the church... Preschool, prayer walking, visitations, painting and cleaning! We finished painting all the ceiling boards today so we'll finish the construction tomorrow. "PAINTING COMPLETE"!!!! We went on a prayer walk.... It was a wonderful experience because we met some joyful people, who love and serve the lord. Spending time with the preschoolers today was incredibly uplifting. Just seeing the smiles on their faces brightened our day. Later on we got to spend even more time with kids in the sports ministry. They made up a game while playing basketball today and the kids were very excited about it. Word spread that we were here after the prayer walking this morning and a bunch of kids filled the church in the afternoon. We played games and colored in books. Overall, we had an amazing day!!

Good Night!
by PPM Staff
June 27, 2012 at 11:39 PM

Today we learned that "Good Night" in Belizean creole is a greeting for the evening. We were greeted at the evening church service with a Good Night! We shared our skit with the church as well as a praise song. We also got to hear some worship provided by Pastor Westby and our fabulous leader Lorelee. The youth looked great in their church wear! Perfect evening to a perfect day...

Last Day in Belize City!
by PPM staff
June 28, 2012 at 10:39 PM

Today was our final day serving in Belize City! This morning we went back to the youth hostel to minister to the kids one last time before we leave. It was great hanging out with them again but it was sad saying goodbye. Afterwards, we went back to the church and we had delicious sandwiches and natural tropical juice for lunch.

Preschoolers Graduation!!
by PPM staff
June 28, 2012 at 10:54 PM

Kids are soooo cute!!! In the afternoon, the preschoolers from "Mustard Seed Preschool" had their closing exercise/ graduation at Ladyville Baptist Church. We've been practicing with them the entire week so it was pretty exciting that the day finally came and we got to see them march down the isle in their gowns and graduation caps. We are surely gonna miss them!!!

Closing Service!
by PPM staff
June 28, 2012 at 11:02 PM

Tonight Pastor Westby had a closing service for us. It has been a privilege serving that church this week. Pastor is truly a man of God and we know God will be using him and that church in so many ways in the Ladyville area. It was awesome serving in Belize this week!! We head out to the Cayes in the morning so we have an early night tonight. Thank you Lord for an amazing week!!!!

Phyllis Brown--Team Cornerstone

Hello Everyone, We all made it home tonight around to 11:00PM to one of God's "light shows". We were so blessed to have found news friends in all of you. We pray that your homes will be blessed.

Bob Brown

Hi everyone from "Team Beelize". Hopefully, you all had a refreshing day today....swimming, snorkeling and enjoying each other in fun fellowship. Also, exploring Caye Caulker looks interesting. On a personal note to Rita....I Love You and Miss You Very Much. Elvis and Willie Nelson sang a song of which the words are not as important to what I have to say. However, the title rings very true about this week, "You were always on my mind"! I will be glad to see you when you get home. 'Loving You' as always....Bob

A song comes to mind as I think about what 'Team Belize 2012' and so many Christian Missionaries are attempting to do. “People need the Lord”. It does not matter if it for a short term or life-time. Bringing the 'Good News of Christ' to others who do not have a personal relationship with Him is a very important undertaking of love. Thanks for going to Belize for that purpose. It looks and sounds like you all did a great job. Something for all of us to remember is that most of us have personal mission fields in our own back yard. Again, Thanks for going, stay safe and have fun tomorrow. I took the liberty to attach the lyrics of that song to this note. Nite, nite for now. Love in Christ....Bob People need the Lord (Steve Green lyrics) Everyday they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes. Empty people filled with care, Headed who knows where? On they go through private pain, Living fear to fear. Laughter hides their silent cries, Only Jesus hears. People need the Lord, people need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door. People need the Lord, people need the Lord. When will we realize, people need the Lord? We are called to take His light To a world where wrong seems right. What could be too great a cost For sharing Life with one who's lost? Through His love our hearts can feel All the grief they bear. They must hear the Words of Life Only we can share People need the Lord, people need the Lord At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door. People need the Lord, people need the Lord. When will we realize that we must give our lives, For people need the Lord. People need the Lord.

Bob Brown

In my Promise Keepers 'Men's Study Bible" for Colossians 4:2-6, I found the following. This may be helpful as you attemppt to share 'The Good News of Christ' with those you come into contact with.... Does the idea of sharing your faith make you a little uneasy? If so, you're not alone, Many men (and women) feel that way. Even Paul, one of the boldest evangelists in church history, requested that the Colossians pray for his ministry of evangelism. In his prayer we find insight into how we should pray for others and how they should pray for us as we spread the gospel. First, we should pray for open doors, asking that God will give us opportunities to share our faith. Second, we should pray that we'll recognize and capitalize on each opportunity. Third, we should pray that the Spirit will give us clarity of mind and speech when we do tell someone about Jesus. Fourth, we should pray for sensitivity in our language. As followers of Jesus we need to tell the gospel story in a way that connects with people on a personal level. Remember, concepts that are clear for one person can be muddy for another. Ask God to give you the wisdom and sensitivity to know how to adapt your presentation of the gospel so it's clear to each person to whom you speak. And remember, actions can speak even louder than words, so combine your verbal message with a godly example of Jesus' love. My prayers and love go with you all....especially to my best friend, companion & wife. I Love You....Rita God Bless you all in Christ....Bob

Pomranky's small group

Looks like you all are having a great time! We enjoy the photos and blerbs about your activities. We had a great dinner...lots of food with only 5 of us here tonight! Praying for you as you perform your skit. S'pose to be 100 degrees here tomorrow; hopefully the AC at the clinic where I work will be on all day! Hope you are staying cool. Love you all

As I was thinking about The Belize Team 2012, I thought about Paul's prayer for Philemon in Chapter 1. His prayer is one of the ways I am praying for all of you in Belize. You are all my hero's and I am encouraged by your steadfastness in serving God, by bringing 'The Good News of Christ' and His love to the people of Belize. Philemon 1: 4-7 4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, 5 because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. 6 I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. Thank you all and I also pray that your oneness in Christ permeates itself in each of, so that His Love, Mercy and Grace flows through you to everyone you come into contact with....Love in Christ....Bob
