Mondays are better in Haiti

One thing we can all agree on, Mondays are better in Haiti. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise, ate breakfast, and jumped on the bus. Today was our first day at our worksite. This week, we are continuing construction on the Church and School of Mariani. We spent time passing blocks and buckets of dirt as the workers prepared the floor of one of the rooms to be poured tomorrow. It was very exciting as many of the community members came out to help us.
Another wonderful day!

Today was another great day in Haiti. We started off our day with our normal routine of getting dressed, eating breakfast, and hopping on the bus. From there, we headed back out to Mariani where we continued the work on the school. Today, our job was to pour the floor in one of the classrooms. We passed bucket after bucket as the floor began to take shape. It took us until 1:00pm to complete the project. From there, we snapped a quick picture and headed down to the bus.
Wednesday in Haiti

Today we woke up to clear skies as we got dressed, had our usual breakfast, and joined the rest of our team on the bus. Today we left for Mariani knowing that it would be our last visit for the year. We arrived and jumped right in passing buckets to complete the last floor in the school. Our goal was to have it done by mid afternoon and then love on the kids the rest of the day. We worked hard and completed our goal just in time! Shortly after we finished, the once clear skies turned grey and the rain began to pour. We said our goodbyes to the community, hugged the kids that had helped us all week, and headed down to the bus to get out of the rain. One thing we have learned is that when it rains in Haiti, everything stops. With that, we headed back to the lodging facility a little earlier today. Once there, a game of soccer started in the court yard with a few of the kids that were in the area. A group of us also went on a walk in the community. It was great to spend the rest of the afternoon just taking it all in.

Eric Little, Scottish missionary and Olympic runner has a memorable line in the movie Chariots of Fire. He said; "When I run I feel God's pleasure". Judging from the smiles on your faces I think it's safe to say about you all; AS WE SERVE WE FEEL GOD'S PLEASURE! God Bless You!
You're halfway there! Keep up the great work as you create memories for a lifetime serving the Lord!
Thinking of you all and keeping you in my prayers for a successful and memorable trip. Knowing all the hard work you put into this trip to make it possible makes it that much more exciting to see the picture of you guys actually there!! I hope to see lots of pictures when you get back!
To the people from St. Croix Valley - I saw your picture and from your smiles I know you are enjoying doing God's work in Haiti. I pray for all of you and the people of Haiti. I'll be happy to see all of you soon. Love to all and a safe trip home - especially Kathy, Carolyn, Crystal and Sue. Millie Brandt
Hope all is well with everyone and that the trip is blessing all whom it touches. Lauren, Mason and Myself made a trip to FMSC (feed my starving children) and the food we packaged is going to Haiti at the end of the week. We are so proud of the sacrifices that all of you have made to make this trip to bless others. We'll continue to pray for you and for your safe trip home.
Confirmation that you've all arrived safely means my prayers for you have been answered. I have a candle continuously burning for your group, an incessant reminder to me of the light you are all sharing with others in Haiti. Norma, I'm smiling just thinking about how happy you are to be moving, teaching, working, storytelling, loving and sharing whatever you can to "make a little one's day." Sending love and hugs your way...thoughts and prayers always, Theresa Blesi
