We Made It!
by Jim
June 30, 2012 at 09:25 PM

We have safely arrived in Haiti! We arrived to the hot sun, beautiful mountains, and wonderful people. We grabbed out bags, exited customs, and met our staff from PPM. We then took a short drive to our lodging facility where we got settled in before taking a walk in the community. We finished the night with an amazing meal of rice and beans, chicken, and fruit before having our orientation meeting. We are now tucked into bed awaiting our first full day of ministry tomorrow. We will be attending a Haiti church service and then visiting Life is Hope orphanage for the first time. Thank you all for praying! We are so excited for this week!

Sunday Worship!
by Jim
July 1, 2012 at 08:37 PM

Today we woke up to our first morning in Haiti. We still can't believe we are actually here! We had breakfast and then hopped in the bus. We traveled to a community called Susematla for church. It was amazing worshiping with the Haitian people! A couple of us gave our testimony, many of us participated in special music, and Rich gave the message. The heart that the Haitian people have for the Lord of the universe is amazing. It was so prevalent in their worship. The picture attached is of us, the other group here from Pennsylvania, and some of the church members.

After church, we headed back to our lodging facility for lunch. We ate quick and organized our children's ministry supplies. We then headed off to Life is Hope orphanage where we had the opportunity to love on the kids. When we arrived, the children were jumping up and down in excitement! It was so fun to play with them, sing songs, and hold them as they slept.

Please continue to pray for us! Tomorrow we will head out to a new property that the local church is building a new orphanage on. We will work on the wall for the property in the morning, and then head back out to the orphanage for the afternoon.

God is Good!

Concrete and Kids!

July 2, 2012 at 09:06 PM

Today was yet another beautiful day in Haiti. We woke up, grabbed some breakfast, and hopped on the bus to head to the worksite for the first time. This week, we have the opportunity to not just love on the kids at Life is Hope orphanage, but also help them build their dream home. The part of the project that we are able to assist in is pouring the columns for the wall. We arrived at the worksite and jumped right into the project. Bucket after bucket was passed as we watched the columns form. We poured 8 columns today and have another 10 to go tomorrow. It was great working as a team, along with the Haitian men, to accomplish our goal.

After the columns were poured, we ate some lunch and switched gears to loving on the kids from the neighborhood. While we were busy working on the wall, a large group of kids had begun to gather. We broke out the soccer ball and enjoyed a game with them. Much laughter and joy took place as we began to build relationships with them.

To end the day, we headed to Life is Hope orphanage. We will never get tired of walking in those doors and seeing the smile on their faces. We played games with them, sang songs, and did a bible skit on David and Goliath. Those kids are so precious and have truly grabbed our hearts.

Tomorrow, we will have a day very similar to today. We will head out to the worksite in the morning, pour the columns, then love on kids before ending the day at the orphanage. Please keep praying for us as we serve the Haitian people. We are loving every minute!

Return the Wall and Orphanage
by Jim
July 3, 2012 at 09:04 PM

Today was almost a mirror image of yesterday at the worksite. However, both teams work extremely well together in unison, completing more work than the previous day! Our team members jumped into work upon arrival setting up bucket lines, mixing cement and moving rock. The teams worked so well together that there was extra time before lunch to do a youth outreach in the community. After lunch the team continued it's outreach. The team then headed back to the Life is Hope Orphanage for a third day. The team spent a lot of time loving on the kids with many activities, including arts and crafts, games and a lesson on creation using the "Creation Wheel." Today was an especially hard day for many of our team leaving the orphanage after making so many relationships.

Keep the prayers rolling in! Tomorrow is our last full day of dedicated ministry. We will head out the community where we will participate in door to door evangelism as well as continue the construction of the wall. We will then end our day at our favorite place, Life is Hope orphanage.

An amazing day!

July 4, 2012 at 08:54 PM

Today was yet another amazing day in Haiti. While the United States was celebrating their Independence, we were proclaiming the freedom we have in Christ to the children of Haiti. We started off the day by heading back to the new orphanage property for the last time. There will soon be a church starting on the property, so many of us took part in a door to door ministry telling people about the church. We also continued work on the foundation of the wall, and loved on the neighborhood kids.

The second half day we spent back at Life is Hope. We each have our kids that run to us as we walk through the doors. There is no feeling like it! Rich gave the Gospel today to the children. God was at work.

We finished the night worshiping on the roof of our lodging facility. The staff at PPM surprised us with sparklers in honor of the American holiday. We sang How Great is Our God as we held our sparklers under the Haitian moonlight. It was an amazing experience and a 4th of July we will never forget.

Tomorrow we will travel to the mountains to enjoy the beauty of Haiti. We will then come back into the city and spend the last half of the day with the children at Life is Hope on last time.

God is good!

Wrapping it up.

July 5, 2012 at 09:37 PM

Today was our last full day in Haiti. We woke up looking forward to another great day. We started off the day by enjoying the mountains of Haiti as well as doing some souvenir shopping. We traveled into the green mountains up a winding road to an overlook of the city of Port-Au-Prince. It was an amazing site to see the city below. We then continued our way up the mountain to a self help mission that included a restaurant. We had our lunch there before heading back down to the lodging facility.

At the lodging facility, we quickly packed our donations and headed off to the orphanage one last time. Once at the orphanage, we loved on the kids as much as we could. We even played a game of soccer against them! They had a great time and ended up winning 5-4. After the game, we were blessed to be able to provide a meal for them before passing out the dresses that were given by our church. They looked so cute in them! When it was time to go, many tears were shed. We will never forget these kids!

Tonight we worshiped our hearts out and reflected on our amazing week. We will be back! Please pray for us as we rest tonight and head home tomorrow.

Enjoying the mountain.

Matthew 28:16-20 The Great Commission Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Those verses came to my mind today as I prayed for each of you today. A great reminder of our purpose on this side of Heaven. Joel, we cannot wait to visit with you when you get back! I'm pretty sure everyone there can see what a humble, hard-working man of God you are! I hope you have been able to play some soccer with the children there! Remember, drink water first and no sodas!! ;) May God keep you all in His care!

Hey Guys and Gals, Words cannot express how excited and proud we are of all of you and we are so thankful for your obedience in following God's will in serving in Haiti on this amazing spiritual adventure! We prayed for you in the service today and your church family will stay on our knees lifting you before God in prayer daily asking for the overflowing power of the Holy Spirit to provide everything you need to face and accomplish every task and opportunity He has in store for you! You are a very special group that I know God uniquely and perfectly called out and fit together for service on this trip. Just continue to trust and obey Christ and I know God will do "exceedingly and abundantly" greater than anything you thought you were capable of in service. We love you and are checking the computer 40 times a day to see if there is any new blogs or pictures from you. On a personal note, Dawn and Andew I love you both so much and I am so proud of your service for Christ on this trip! Caleb and I are doing fine (the house now looks a little like a dorm room), Jonathan got moved into his new place, which is real nice, and Jack just keeps staring at both doors looking for y'all when we come in. By the way, I watched the momma bird feed her 4 little babies today as they stuck their heads up and chirped! I'll stop writing now - I don't want anyone to think I'm long-winded! Good night!

Becky Walker

We have been praying daily for all of you as you follow through obedience by sharing the gospel in Haiti. May God continue to keep you all safe and give you renewed strength and rest each day to accomplish all He has planned for you all and for those who He places in your paths. What a blessing you all will be and what a blessing you all are going to receive! Thank you for being vessels for our Lord!

Hello Yall, After some research on what yall are about to face, I realized that it is not so much about the dresses, coloring books etc. but teaching the children and adults to trust in prayer, that their is a God that cares and hears their needs. Stay safe, in the city of so much crime and heart ache.
