WE HAVE ARRIVED!!
by Steph and Jae
July 8, 2012 at 09:30 PM

The team arrived here in Montego Bay around noon today and were greeted by PPM staff as soon as they were cleared from customs. Their first Jamaican culture experience was lunch at a local "jerk center." They loved the jerk chicken and festivals (fried corn bread sticks). After lunch we took the team to Calvary Baptist Church in Montego Bay where we will be staying for the week. Everyone has settled in and is preparing for a good night sleep before a full day of awesome ministry tomorrow!! Until then, thank you for your prayers!

Ministry at Salt Springs

July 9, 2012 at 10:31 PM

Its day two in Jamaica and our first day of V.B.S. We had an awesome day of ministry and fellowship at the Salt Springs Baptist Church. The team settled in as soon as we arrived and were asked to assist the V.B.S. teachers with their classes. Teaching was a new experience for us but the love that we got from the kids was enough to make us feel totally relaxed. The day progressed well as we entered into an afternoon session of "singspiration" which was lead by Andrew Burns (on guitar) and Assistant team leader 'Jae' (on drums), it was totally awesome. We later painted an Education Centre in the evening and that also went well. keep us in your prayers always and May God bless you all.

Day Three
by Lydia
July 10, 2012 at 09:25 PM

I cannot believe it's been three days since we left the U.S.A. The days have flown by much faster than expected. The kids have already attached themselves to us, and by that, I literally mean they hug our legs as we try to walk. They were especially interested in my red hair, as they had never seen anything like it before. We all love the kids as much as they love us.
The project has been going well. The first day zoomed by and we thought it was going to be a breeze. However, we only have two ladders, so today went a little slower. But have no fear, no one was without work, because there was another room that needed to be sanded. We are going to see if we have more ladders before we go back.
All in all, we're having a great time here in Jamaica. And while I never want to leave, I also can't wait to come to share with you all of the great experiences I've had.

Day Four! Oh How The Days Fly
by Jae & Stephany
July 12, 2012 at 12:16 AM

It has already been four days since the team landed in Montego Bay and the team has remarkably acclimatized to the culture of the Island. the Weather here is great and kids are already making plans to come back some day after they leave to head back home. Today was undoubtedly one of our best days for the team yet. It started with the usual travel to our V.B.S. Location. On arrival we split up rather briskly into our assigned class groups and joined in to the lesson. The focus for the lesson was Genesis 45 which talks about how Joseph made peace with his brother who sold him into slavery and also how he was reunited with his father. We then had a session of Praise and Worship which had everybody dancing, went 30 minutes beyond the usual stop time and the children shouting 'we want more'! We left the church after our lunch of Coco-Bread & JUCI Patties (yummmy), and headed to Hopewell in Hanover to visit a home for disabled and mentally challenged children. It mostly an overwhelming experience for most of us but the team just dived in and ended up having a blast with the kids. ALL IN ALL....everything went really well. Continue to pray for us as we work and minister on this once in a lifetime journey. God Bless You.

Thursday Already!!!!!

The morning was filled with productivity. We participated in the usual teaching of V.B.S. Lessons, this went pretty well. We spoke about Daniel and how he overcame the many hurdles he faced. We then went to work on the painting project. We finished prematurely due to the fact that work supplies had finished. In a sense it was bitter sweet because we felt that there was still a little more that we could have done notwithstanding our set back due to insufficient supplies. We however got the opportunity to head back home earlier than usual and get some well deserved rest. We later travelled to Hopewell in Hanover to eat a lovely dinner at the Sky view Restaurant. While we were there a number of the kids took the opportunity to put their foot in the ocean for the first time. It has indeed been a blessed day and an more remarkable five days on the island!

Its So Hard To Say Goodbye!!!!

We arrived for V.B.S. at our usual time. Today was different however, because everyone knew that it was our last day. We tried our best to put our best foot forward amidst our mixed emotions, so we tried our best to have fun. We did an excellent puppet show as well. It was primarily about how we could exercise peacefulness daily in the many different situations that we face. We were then given thank you cards and best wishes from the church members. We then left the church and headed straight to the beach where we spent the rest of the evening having lunch and loads of fun. We the headed home, had dinner and were treated to an evening of fellowship, food and music with the youths from the entire Circuit. tomorrow we head to Airport as we anticipate saying our goodbyes. Continue to pray for us until then.
