We're Here!!!!!!!
by Michelle Parr June 24, 2012 at 01:34 PM We arrived in Belize. We made it through customs without any problems. We met up with the PPM staff that we will be working with this week. We went back to the Global Village Hotel to meet up with the other teams and to eat lunch. Later today we will be traveling to Orange Walk and settling in. We will be leading the evening service at Pastor Rick’s church tonight. It is going to be an amazing week!
Monday Service!!!!by Michelle Parr June 25, 2012 at 09:28 PM Today was an amazing day. In the morning we went to the Presbyterian School and led VBS for the kids. They were so excited to see us and we had so much fun. We lead with music, games and crafts. After lunch we went to the church and painted the preschool there. We also did some plumbing. In the front of the preschool building the team is painting a picture of the Garden of Eden with fun colors for the kids. The Pastor's wife is very excited about it.
A Day at the Mayan Ruins by Michelle Parr June 27, 2012 at 08:22 PM Today we learned about the great civilization of the Maya people. We went to the archeological site called Lamani. We were given a tour of the site and a history of the people by our guide Roberto. There were three main temples and we were able to climb the High Temple and the Jaguar Temple. We also saw some black howler monkeys. It was a great day.
Thursdayby Michelle Parr June 29, 2012 at 12:22 AM Today was a busy day. In the morning we went to the church and worked on painting the Preschool and finishing up on other smaller projects. Then we went back in the afternoon, after eating a tasty lunch, to mix and pour cemente. We then played with the kids during VBS at the park. Then we went to Muffles and shared all the wonderful things that have been going on this week. It has been a wonderful day.
Our Last Dayby Michelle Parr June 30, 2012 at 01:13 AM Today was our last day in Belize. In the morning we went to some people of the Nazarene congregation’s house and visited with them and learned their stories. Then in the afternoon we went back to the church and finished the mural on the preschool wall. We finished painting the inside of the Preschool and the electrical things. Then we had our last VBS night and had a lot of fun hanging out with the kids. Later we thanked Pastor Rick and his wife Alice and the rest of the community. We said our last goodbyes to the kids and came back to the college to finish packing and to debrief from all that has happened this week. God has been amazing this week and we all look forward to how he will be working in us after we get back home. Good Bye Belize we will miss you.
Mural for the Preschool by Michelle Parr June 30, 2012 at 01:14 AM One of our projects this week was to paint a mural on the front wall of the Nazarene Preschool. We worked on it from Monday until Friday. It looks amazing and will be shown on Belizean Media once they open the preschool. Congrats on a job well done guys.
Cement Projectby Michelle Parr June 30, 2012 at 01:18 AM One of our projects this week was to make a cement sidewalk for the children to use when walking to the preschool. The boys mixed the cement by hand and poured the sidewalk alongside Pastor Rick. It was hot work but so worth it. The children will no longer have to walk in mud when it rains to get to their school. Good job everyone. Find out more about our trips to

Find out more about Deb KeirceThank you to the wonderful people of Belize for welcoming us so warmly, even though we sweat and smell so much more than native Belizians! The preschool at Pastor Rick's Church of the Nazarene is the very first Nazarene school in Orange Walk District, Belize. his daughter Cindy is so delightful, and she will be the teacher. I am excited to hear about the school's successes when it opens this September, and I hope there will be standard (elementary) and college (high school) projects that follow in its footsteps!
