We have arrived!
by Staff June 24, 2012 at 01:07 PM The team from Little Church on the Lane arrived safely here in Belize yesterday. After taking a quick tour of the city and enjoying some pizza from Pepper's Pizza we loaded the bus and took off for Succotz and the Nazarene Church camp where we will be staying for the week. We took a short stop at a restaurant called Cheer's where we had a burrito bar and continued on our journey arriving at 8:00. We are doing well and can't wait for this wonderful week of ministry which God has planned for us.
Day One Adventures.by Staff June 24, 2012 at 01:15 PM Today we woke up in beautiful Succotz, Belize. After a wonderful breakfast of fry jacks we headed off to Sacred Heart Parish and participated in Mass led by Father Leo. It was a great experience to be able to worship with the people of Belize and to celebrate as one Body of Christ. Later on we headed out to do Home Visits in the community to invite them to VBS and the other activities we will be holding throughout the week and to get to know the people in the community where we will be serving. It was a great day here in Belize and we are continually humbled to think that God would allow us to join him in his work throughout the world. Thank you all for your continued prayers and we look forward to sharing with you in person when we return.
Nursing Home, VBS, & Projects
by Staff June 25, 2012 at 07:03 PM We had an amazing day of ministry here in Belize! We started off our day by going to Octavia Waight's Nursing home in San Ignacio and doing some prayer walking/home visits around that community as well. It was a wonderful time getting to know the people at the nursing home and to share with them some songs and simple conversations. After a delicious lunch of burritos we headed back to Sacred Heart Parish and prepared for an afternoon of VBS with the Sacred Heart Primary School's standard 5 class of 150 children. It was a lot of work but well worth every drop of sweat! The children enjoyed the songs and games as much as we enjoyed getting to spend time with them. After VBS, we started our service projects of cleaning up the trash around the entire school/church campus and painting the sign out from with a fresh coat of paint. God is doing some amazing things and we are having an fantastic time getting to know him better by serving some of his children and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you so much for your prayers and we look forward to updating you soon!
A Trip back in Timeby Leah June 27, 2012 at 11:25 AM While visiting the Mayan ruins, Xunantunich, some members of the Little Church on the Lane took time out to snap a quick photo at the base of the biggest temple.
Praise the Lord!by Leah June 27, 2012 at 12:11 PM What a wonderful week is has been here in Belize. We have seen God working in amazing ways through all the different ministries we have been involved in (planned and unplanned). We have had such a great adventure the past couple days. Yesterday we were able to experience the wonder of God's creation by traveling to the mayan ruins called Xunantunich. Once at the top, we could see for miles upon miles and were able to marvel at how incredibly awesome and wonderful our God really is. After a fulfilling and reenergizing lunch we headed back to the parish where we did another afternoon of VBS fun for the children in the Standard 5 class of Sacred Heart Primary School. The group then set to work cleaning out a packed storage room that Father Leo hopes to turn into an office or classroom. The team did amazing clearing out and sorting over half of the room in only an hour! God has provided us with a nonstop supply of energy to help us in our work for him. Thank you soo much for your prayers and we can't wait to see you all again. Today we will continue to clean out the room as well as do another round of VBS and do some more home visits, prayer walks, and visiting the nursing home. This evening we look forward to packing up and traveling to the Caye in the morning for our day of rest and relaxtion. Please pray for us as we end out our week here in Succotz and travel to the island in the morning. God Bless!
Off to the Caye!
by Leah June 28, 2012 at 07:07 PM The team is well on their way to Caye Caulker to have a fun-filled day of snorkeling, sunshine, island life and delicious food. We ended our time in Succotz yesterday by finishing up our project of cleaning out a room for the parish and painting the sign out front. The children loved their final day at VBS and even sang us a couple of their own songs. Thank you so much for your prayers, God has done amazing things and has left us with no regrets. We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
Painting the Sign?by Leah June 28, 2012 at 07:09 PM Collin and Taryn did an amazing job painting the sign out front of Sacred Heart Parish...at least I think they did.
