In Haiti at Last!
October 23, 2010 at 07:30 PM
We arrived, safe and sound, in Haiti! After much anticipation, it's good to finally be here. We wasted no time jumping into ministry. The highlight of the day was definitely being at the orphanage. There were over one hundred children and it was our privilege to play with them and love them as best as we could for the time we were there. We were also able to bless them with the gift of bedsheets, thanks to the donations that came in. They were MUCH needed. Pastor John and the kids were very appreciative. We will go to bed tonight with their faces on our minds and names on our hearts.
Getting our hands dirty today!

Things are going great! Thank you for the prayers. Pastor Kevin's message was amazing. Pastor Sampson and the church welcomed it with very open hearts.

It was an early start for us yesterday as we woke up bright and early to go to Dominique's house. The beauty of the site and the huge smile on Dominique's face made it all worth it, though!

The Walls Are Going Up!
October 27, 2010 at 07:02 AM
The walls are going up and it looks more and more like a house everyday! We've completed phase 1, our goal for yesterday. Today we are starting on phase 2. The weather has been a blessing. Although it's hot, there was no rain to prevent us from building. Praise God. We're in agreement, the best thing about building Dominique's house is having him right alongside us in the process. He's fun to work with and all of his huge smiles make it much easier.
Many Hands, Much Progress!
October 27, 2010 at 02:19 PM
Today is our last full day of serving out at Dominic's house. Much progress has been made and we have been blessed with the partnership of the Haitians serving along side of us! Many hands are serving here this week! We have been enjoying the work, drinking lots of water, and hopefully being a blessing as much as being blessed!
Hard to say goodbye...
October 29, 2010 at 01:53 PM
Today marked our last day in Haiti. We packed up and left the lodging location at 7am this morning. It was so hard to say goodbye. We traveled the roads of Port Au Prince one last time before arriving at the airport. This place has touched all of our hearts. We will never forget the Haitian people and how they have changed our lives.

You are in our hearts and in our prayers. Thank you for serving so willingly in a place where there are so many needs. Praying that you will touch lives not only with what you are doing, but by the love of the Lord you share each day. We love you all!
We prayed for you all during our home group last night at the Thomas home. Joe, Jake seems a little out of sorts; I think he's missing you. We were excited to hear how God used you to share His truth even before you left for Haiti. By the way, maybe you should give the rest of the team a heads-up about Carlene's, uh, mischievous tendencies? Just a suggestion.
Beth, praying for you and the team as you are the hands and feet of Christ to a hurting people. May God grant you good health and strength to do the work before you this week.
We are so glad to know you arrived safely, are eating well, and have jumped right into ministry. Our prayers are with each one of you. Beth, Regan was her usual cheerful self in nursery yesterday...and Daddy did her hair up in a pony tail! Thanks to each one of you for allowing the Lord to use your gifts and talents in this way. May it be an even greater blessing to you individually than it is to the Haitian people who so desperately need your help.
A special message for Lee Burkhardt: Jah-Jah and Ella miss you and wanted to tell their daddy "Hi" and "We love you!" We are praying everyday for you!
Praying for you all!!!

The LORD watches over you -- the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm -- He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. We have been praying for your all and are excited about what God will do through you this week. What a great team you have -- a really neat group of people. We will pray that you will be drawn together in unity by the Spirit as you minister together this week. You are a testimony to us, to the Haitians and to your friends and colleagues back home.
