We made it!

by Brian Zeschke | June 26, 2016 2:21 AM

We arrived in Phoenix this morning and have made our way down to Mexico on our long, adventurous journey! We stopped half way between Phoenix and Tucson to have some Chik-Fila and In-N-Out for lunch. Then we made our way to Tucson and had a quick stop at Walmart to stock up on supplies. Finally it was in to Mexico! We made it most of the way to Desemboque but decided to stop for the night at our dinner spot in Altar. We're all exhausted and the roads aren't great to drive at night. So we're settled in at a small bowl and resting up so we can continue the adventure in the morning. Thank you for your prayers thus far and please continue to pray for a successful week with the youth of Desemboque.

Sunday!

by Taylor Schroeder | June 28, 2016 1:38 PM

When we arrived in Desemboque, Mexico we were immediately accepted as family and greeted warmly. During the church service the people of Desemboque were crying and really getting into it. The man who spoke to us on Sunday told us stories and real life incidents of Gods work. It was a very emotional service and most definitely nothing we have ever seen before. The women feed us heavily for every meal and never complain about serving us. The youth were all very excited and fun. Most of them don’t know any English but they still try to talk and interact with us. The time we all bonded the most was when we played chicken in the ocean and chased the fish. Even though some of the kids who are from Altar (about an hour away) have never seen the ocean before, none of them seemed scared and they loved it!

Mission Monday

by Taylor Schroeder | June 28, 2016 1:48 PM

We had a breakfast around 9:30 this morning which was very good! After breakfast we had our devotional from Matthew and spent some quite time. Then we shared our Testimonies. About 5 of us shared our Testimonies and about 4 of the kids from Altar shared their Testimonies. It was really cool to see how the kids from Altar came to know Christ. After we came back to the hotel and played on the beach and in the water with the kids. It was tons of fun. For lunch we fish tacos and then some rest time. We planned for the rest of the night and what all was going to happen. We had our movie night where we watched War Room. We had a great day and can’t wait to see what we are going to do tomorrow! Pray for the Altar kids as they head back to Altar in the morning.

Painting Tuesday

by Taylor Schroeder | June 29, 2016 10:18 AM

Today we had to say goodbye to the Altar kids. It was a lot of with them these past few days. They left a little after breakfast. We spent most of the afternoon painting. As the girls put one layer of paint of Juan’s house the boys scraped the paint off of Pastors house. Then everybody came over and painted Pastors house. It is crazy to think what one layer of paint can do for a house! For dinner we had homemade tamales. They were so yummy! Then we spent some time bonding and doing henna tattoos and makes bracelets. It so crazy to think that tomorrow is our last day in Desemboque. Say a prayer for the people here and the families who house we will finish painting tomorrow!

Our last day

by Taylor Schroeder | June 30, 2016 8:31 PM

Today was our last day of ministry and we wanted to finish strong. We started the day by doing a second coat of paint on Pastors house. We knocked it out really fast with all of us working together. After we finished we prayed over his house and his family. Pastor also prayed for us. Then we headed to Juan's house. We finished the back two sides and then did the same by praying over his family and his house. Then Juan's wife prayed for us. Before dinner we split up into two groups and did a prayer walk around the whole town. We prayed for schools and stores and people and the ocean. That the people who used the stores and schools would know you and would succeed. We prayed that the ocean would give them plenty of fish to feed their families. At dinner we had to say our goodbyes to Pastor and his family. We were so thankful for all the food he and his wife cooked us and their two daughters to translate for us. It has been an awesome week!

On the road again

by Taylor Schroeder | June 30, 2016 8:34 PM

We had a bright and early start as we left around 5 this morning. We wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to get Melinda to the airport! One of the vans had a little trouble at the border but nothing major. Just the van had to be searched. But other than it was smoothing sailing. Now we are all settled in to our hotel ready to make the long drive to San Antonio, Texas for our conference! Pray for safe travels as we head out tomorrow!
