We Have Landed!

by PPM Staff | June 18, 2011 1:15 PM

Hello All! We are alive and well here in Belize. We landed a few hours ago and are excited for what God is going to do this week. We have settled into our rooms and are preparing to head out to Dorothy Menzie's for the afternoon. It is rainy but still beautiful here in Belize. We miss everyone back home and hope that you will keep us in your prayers as we begin this week long mission for God. God Bless and we will update you soon.

Every Tribe and Every Nation

by PPM Staff | June 19, 2011 2:58 PM

We had an amazing church service today at Galilee Baptist. We heard a wonderful message from Pastor Ruperto and had a wonderful time of worship. Afterwards we enjoyed some delicious tamales and are now back at the hotel getting ready for tonight's church service. We are all doing well and enjoying our time here in Belize. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the dental clinics, service projects and VBS tomorrow. We miss you all and God Bless!

Climbing to great heights

by Kimberly, Sally, Karen, Jesse, Pam, Debbie, Betty | June 21, 2011 6:31 PM

Today we had a wonderful day here in Belize. We worked alot at Galilee Baptist painting, digging the ditch, and working at the dental clinic. Many of our workers overcame their fear of heights at the top of the church finishing the painting.. All the digging for the ditch is complete, we need to finish the top tomorrow. The Dentists Craig Sr. and Craig Jr. were very busy today, 36 patients came for a visit. Vacation Bible School went smoother today than it was yesterday. There were smiles all around as the kids came for singing, games, crafts, and fun. P.S. Could someone please call Nick Selby and remind him to water the lawn for his Dad? Love to All! We Miss You!

A Day in the Life...

by PPM Staff | June 21, 2011 8:02 PM

As per request...Here is a day in the Life of the Hibben United Methodist Church... 8:00 - We begin the day by enjoying breakfast buffet style. We are able to choose from a variety of foods. After that we load up the bus and head into the city. 9:00 - We arrive at Galilee Baptist Church in Belize City, BZ. When we arrive at the church, we split up into our respective groups and head out to show the love of Jesus to Belize. 10:00 - We are an hour into our jobs...The dental clinic is in full swing: Craig Sr. and Craig Jr. are busy doing routine cleanings, and on some occasions extractions. The painting crew is working hard on the church building and the crew that is fixing the ditch is pouring cement and making sure the ditch is perfect. 12:00 - After two more hours of work, we break for lunch. Our meal is provided by a woman in the neighborhood and it is always delicious. We relax until 1:00 and then continue our jobs until 3:00. 3:00 - 5:30 - We play games, have a bible story, sing some songs and do some crafts with about 70 kids from the neighborhood and orphanage. 6:00 - We stop for dinner. On several occasions we are able to go to a restaurant, We have gone to Bird's Eye and Friendship Chinese. The other day's we enjoy the cooking of the neighborhood woman. 7:00 - We have a church service, on one night a youth rally. On Wednesday, we will be having a prayer service. 9:00 - We finish up, head back to the hotel and have a team meeting before heading off to bed. We discuss God's work during the day and share our favorite parts. 11:00 - Lights out!!!

Making a Splash!

by PPM Staff | June 22, 2011 9:21 PM

We had a relaxing and fun filled day today. We left the hotel this morning and traveled to the Blue Hole/ St. Herman's Cave National Park near Belmopan, BZ. We had an amazing time exploring the cave and seeing the wonderful of God's creation displayed in the darkness. We then traveled up into the light once again and enjoyed a refreshing dip in the Blue Hole. The water was a little on the chilly side but as always we made the most of every opportunity. In the afternoon we headed back for VBS where the kids once again had a great time. We ended the evening with a wonderful church service where we enjoyed a message from Pastor Jim. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. Remember us tomorrow as we finish up our final day of work at Galilee Baptist and prepare to come home. God Bless you all!

Goodbye is not forever...

by PPM Staff | June 23, 2011 9:26 PM

We finished our last day at Galilee Baptist Church in Belize City, BZ. We had an awesome day all around. The last cement was poured and the end result is a smooth new driveway that will allow more people to park alongside the church. The painting was completed and the church looks brand new. In the Dental Clinic was saw a record 65 people today. That brings our grand total to around 150!! Praise God! We finished the night with a farewell service. We presented the church with some donated items and thanked Pastor Ruperto for his wonderful hospitality once again. He reminded us that this is not" Goodbye" but a simple "See You Later" until we meet again next year. We are now back at the hotel preparing for our final day in Belize. Tomorrow morning we will travel to Caye Caulker where we will enjoy snorkeling, souvenir shopping, delicious food and the all around inviting nature of island life. P.S. as per tradition...Hug Ten People Before You Leave!
Goodbye is not forever...

Hey guys! Hope all of you are doing well. I just wanted to make a shout out to you all, especially my Young Adult homies. I'm so proud of you guys and am praying that your presence is received with much love and compassion. Its quite odd, and at times a bit ironic, that on these mission trips you never get a complete grasp of how much you effect those that you are there to serve. What is even more astounding, is that those who you are in service to/with never completely understand the impact that they have made in your life. God has a personal relationship with each one of us through our personal relationships with one another. Each is unique, yet divine in nature. Thanks to all of you who have chosen to hear God's call and act upon it. "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say 'Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow- when you now have it with you." (Proverbs 3: 27-28) With much love, Sean

Lacey Lipe - Prayer Partner for Betty

June 22, 2011 3:14 PM

Hi Betty -and fellow Hibbenites! It makes me so proud to log on to this site and feel a part of such a wonderful, passionate and faithful community! You have made me a stronger person by knowing you! Betty, my parayers for before you even got on the plane were answered when I saw the first post: You arrived safely looking as perky as ever & with your "do" in place.. And you have food that is recognizable on an American Restaurant menu.. I don't have worry about my precious friend disappearing into her tiny frame, lol! ;) On a more serious note, my prayer life has gotten to be MUCH BETTER this week.. My "God-line" is busy at all hours! A lot is on my mind- friends, Dylan, but especially you and the tramendous leap of faith that you have taken. I know your infectious smile and warmth will stay with the people of Belize, just as it does with me. Dylan got the Bible that Elizabeth left for him. I took it to the meeting with me on Monday. He hugged it tightly to his chest and was so thankful! We got to spend some time together after the meeting, and the two of us said a prayer for "Miss Elizabeth" and for you... We are so fortunate to have both of you in our lives, as well as the entire church family. I know the Belizean nationals will be blessed by coming in contact with the wonderful Hibben team. Be safe throughout the remainder of the journey. You remain in my thoughts and prayers as I read and follow the progress. I look forward to seeing you and hearing the "Betty stories" (Because I KNOW you couldn't make it that far and it be COMPLETELY uneventful- we DO have THAT MUCH in common, hahahahahahahaha)! Hope ya got some practice in for Regan's Bible School- heh heh... SEE YOU SOON!!! I miss you!!! Love, Serenity & Prayers to All, Lacey (Dylan, too)

Hi Banks! We love reading about what y'all are doing this week! We continue to pray for health and an amazing experience for each of you on the team. We received Reid's first letter from camp today (Wed...took him Sun). It was short and to the point. " Dear mom, I don't like camp. It is not fun. I miss you. I want to come home. Love, Reid." So, please pray for your little brother! He is having a harder time adjusting to camp than you did! We can't wait to see you at the airport Saturday night. Enjoy the last few days of your journey! At youth last night we prayed for each of you, plus the people of Belize. We had a small group, but it was very moving. I am so proud of our church and the missionaries we have been able to send forth. It is crazy hot here today - new Charleston record at 101, they just announced. I pray for your safe return, and for peace and joy for all of you.

Just want Cyrene (my prayer partner) and all the Hibben team to know that they have been in my prayers. I know that you will all bring blessings to those you are in contact with there in Belize. I'm looking forward to hearing about the mission and seeing pictures with those you are ministering to. Cyrene, am anxious to hear about the handbells and how the children receive them. I know that God is there in all aspects of Hibben's mission.

Ephesians 2:19-20: Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; Our prayers are with you, Love Donna Lambert (Is David Hand working or putting hands on hips and directing.....I can say that, I;m his sister...)

June 20, 2011 4:42 AM

Good Morning, hope all is well in Belize - my daily devotional this morning was Genesis 17: 1 - 7 / Its touches on Abraham telling God that he will be the father of many nations & that he will make him fruitful - making personal sacrifice to spread Gods word is the best gift anyone can give. We are all proud of what you guys are doing & will keep you in our prayers daily. The high today in South Georgia is 100 degrees I assume its pretty hot in Belize - drink lots of water & stay hydrated. David, Debbie & Jacob - the Goodman's are rooting for big things to happen on this trip - be safe, be bold & God Bless your mission trip!

Hi Banks! Praying that you are feeling well and growing this week in many ways. Please forgive me as I forgot to put your long pants in the suitcase!!! Hope you were able to borrow some for church today! Walker and I took Reid to Camp Sea Gull this morning. He looked a little nervous and unsure of staying there for a month. Wish you could have been there to make him more at ease! Walker says hi!!! We love you and know that this week will be awesome for you in Belize!

Hello Jesse. I will be praying for you and your new group this week. I hope that all of you will touch the lives of the orphans with love and that you have a wondrous week doing good things for the beautiful people of Belize. By the way, Jesse, I did something very Chris-like. I accidently tore out the back page of my journal with all your information on it so that I could wrap up my bubble gum. When I turned to get June's e-mail address this morning, I realized my BIG mistake. Fortunately, I remember her e-mail because she made a point of telling it to me. Unfortunately, all that is left of your information is 9464, oo.com, and ited Methodist Church. Please e-mail this information to me when you get home. My e-mail is [email protected]. Have a wonderful week. I wish I were there! And remember Eric.

Hi Jessee and The Hibben Group! I wish I was still there to work with you all this week. I know God will do wonderful things through you and bless your efforts. A verse that kept coming to my mind last week was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I pray that God will give each of you strength to accomplish His tasks. Jessee I am so proud of you for working 2 weeks in a row - you are a trooper!!! Be safe and give all the kids hugs for me.
