We are Here!by Leah and Bethany | July 10, 2011 2:10 PM
We finally made it here! Today after arriving, we loaded our bags on the bus and headed off to Eustace's home to eat our first Belizean meal of BBQ pork, beans, and slaw. We then went to Dorothy Menzies children's home for some fun with the kids. Then finally after a tour of the city, we went to Old Belize, a restaurant on the coast for some delicious food! We thank you all for your prayers and cannot wait to get this week started!
Churchby Leah and Bethany | July 10, 2011 2:14 PM
How blessed are we to start off our trip here in Belize with an incredible church service with Pastor Rocke in Belize City. After services, we went back to meet the other members of our team and have some lunch. After another quick trip to the Children's home, we are headed out for our ministry site of Belmopan! We are excited for what the Lord has in store for this week.
Rain, Rain...cannot stop us!by Leah | July 12, 2011 2:36 PM
We are having an amazing time here in Belmopan, Belize! God has done so many things this week and we cannot wait to come home and share them with you. God is working in so many ways...in us and through us. We are having a great time with VBS; all the kids are fantastic and they are so much fun to work with. The service projects are slow because of the rain but through God's power we know we will accomplish anything that we set our mind too. Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts! We will update you again as soon as possible. God Bless You!
Busy, Busy, Busy!by Bethany R. | July 13, 2011 3:42 PM
Sorry for the lag in updates, we have been wonderfully blessed with projects to keep us busy! We have painted the inside of the church at our ministry site of Armenia Baptist Church. The painting went well and quick with so many willing people!
Also, we went on visits door to door in the community inviting them to church, VBS and sharing the gospel. We had great conversations with the Belizeans we met and were able to pray with many of them about different struggles in their lives. We cannot wait to see them all again and reconnect with them tomorrow
Orphanage Visitsby Bethany R. | July 13, 2011 3:44 PM
Today we had the opportunity to go visit the orphanage in Belmopan. The children were so polite, respectful and excited to see us. We really enjoyed getting to play with them and getting to see the smiles on their faces.
VBS Highlightsby Bethany R. | July 13, 2011 3:45 PM
We are having an awesome VBS everyday with 150+ kids! The kid's parents are even coming with them now and returning back for our nightly church services! Please keep us in your prayers as we continue this week!
Xunantunich Recreation!by Bethany R. | July 14, 2011 2:07 PM
Today we took some time to ourselves for recreation! We visited the Mayan Ruins at Xunantunich, Belize. These ruins showcase the biggest temples, altars and ball-courts in all of the sites in Belize. We loved getting to see such a historical site and imagining how the people lived back then. Did you know at the height of the Mayan civilization, the population of Belize was over 3 million people? That's 10 times as many people as there is in the country today!
We also loved getting to see more of the rainforest and many different animals and wildlife. But quite possibly the best part was getting to the top of the largest temple and looking down on Guatemala. It was impressive to see the beautiful land our Lord has blessed us with!
We then ate a quick lunch and headed to our site to kick off VBS for the evening. Thank you all for your prayers, we can feel them at work!
Painting is Finishedby Bethany R. | July 15, 2011 2:22 PM
Painting is finally done on the church in Armenia! We've worked hard on painting the inside and outside but with all of us pulling together, we finally finished. It was so awesome to get to see the before and after of the church. The Lord is good!
Church Servicesby Bethany R. | July 15, 2011 2:24 PM
We have also had the privilege to lead 3 services at the church. We led singing, had a few people share testimonies and heard a message from Pastor John.
VBS again!by Bethany R. | July 15, 2011 2:27 PM
With our last day of VBS coming to a close, it was so hard to tell the children goodbye. We feel as if they are a part of our lives now. With many tears and long hugs, we said goodbye. Our hearts were heavy as they waved to us from the bus. We thank the Lord for His goodness in blessing us with the opportunity to meet them.
