St. Michael's Catholic Church

We are ready to serve along with St. Michael's team and see how God moves through us all during the week.  We are excited! 

We arrived safely full of excitement and anticipation. We are settling in so we get some rest before mass and our first day serving. Thank you for all your prayers!

Good morning Guatemala! We are ready to go to mass and make connections in this week.

Our first Guatemalan breakfast was great!

We invited community members in Playa de Oro to come to an eyeglass clinic. Lots of people showed up to get reading glasses, sunglasses, or have an eye exam! 

Those who needed reading glasses could find some glasses they liked with these ladies!

We went out to invite kids to play with us and also to invite people for the eyeglass clinic. We met Dalila who was surprised to see us. She hugged each one of us!

During dinner we surprised Meredith with a beautiful (and delicious cake) Happy (belated) birthday, Meredith! 

We joined each of the classrooms at the school in Playa de Oro for some games and projects! Here are the 1st graders!

We are working hard to bless the school with a new paint job. It is already looking like a happier place to learn with some fresh, bright paint!

We had so much fun playing human toss with fourth, fifth and six graders! We can't wait to go back tomorrow

We all had our own roles as we worked to make progress on painting the outside of the school. We are nearly finished with the outside after today, and we will begin painting the courtyard walls tomorrow.

After a long day of work painting thr school and having fun with our new friends, we got some delicious Popsicles! 

Our day started out with more school ministry. The kids laughed and got a little bit crazy with some of our games! It was so fun to see the joy on their faces when we returned to the school today.

The teachers & director of the school are so happy to have us here!

As we keep our hands open for what God has for us this week, we feel led to distribute food to the families in Playa de Oro. Tonight we shopped and prepared the bags of food we will distribute!

We journeyed to Antigua this morning to spend time with these joyful kids at a special needs school called Brillo de Sol. The teachers and volunteers care so much about their kids and they are working hard to help them grow into their potential. We were blessed to spend some time playing soccer, jump rope, limbo, keep away, and parachute with the kids!

Today is our last day at the school of Playa de Oro, so we are making the most of our time with the kids while finishing up some murals!

After a long and fun week of ministry, we went to Atitlan Lake to visit the small towns around and to do some shopping!

It's time to go home and share with friends and relatives about how much God impacted our lives throughout this week. We're heading home knowing that God has a plan even though we cannot see it at the moment. It's not a goodbye, it's a see you soon Guatemala
