We have arrived!!!

by Almando Jean Louis | June 23, 2018 11:57 PM

It was an excellent day of travel. God be praised for safety and smoothness throughout the day. We made it to Haiti on schedule, got picked up by 12 Praying Pelican Missions staff who took great care of us, feeding us, making us feel as comfortable as we could be on the long ride to Port Salut from Port-au-Prince. It was only about 130 miles but it took us about 9 hours to get to PS including a few stops.

It's great to be here. We are tired but excited and ready to serve. We look forward to the week and what God has in store for us.

 Bonswa!

A wonderful morning!

by Maddie Howell | June 24, 2018 12:58 PM

After a long day yesterday, we were excited to wake up refreshed to a beautiful, breezy morning! Most of us got to experience Haitian church for the first time. With different cultures, races, and languages together as one group serving the same God, we saw just a glimpse of what the church of God is all about! Hopefully, this week will be filled with many more moments of heaven touching earth.

We had so much fun worshiping together, that we decided we couldn’t stop even when church was over!

A wonderful morning!

Preparation for the busy week!

by Maddie Howell | June 24, 2018 9:33 PM

We spent the afternoon getting ready/praying for kids camp that will be happening the next three days. Even though we are trying to stay organized, we choose to give up our control and bring this week to God!

After we met with our groups, we spent some time on the beach before heading back for dinner and a night session. We feel so energized and equipped for an awesome week!

Kids Camp! (Day 1)

by Maddie Howell | June 25, 2018 9:40 PM

Our first day of kids camp was today! We had a lot of kids from the community show up, so it was really awesome getting to be with them all morning. We had so much fun playing games and singing songs! In the midst of the chaos, it was evident that God was moving in all sorts of interactions.

Afternoon Ministry (day 1)

by Maddie Howell | June 25, 2018 9:48 PM

After lunch, we all broke out into separate groups for ministry! We painted walls in a school, worked on a house, planted trees and built beds. It’s cool that we get to be a part of so many projects!

Even though we didn’t get the luxiery ourselves, we hope that these fruit trees can grow into big trees that provide so much shade for the area.

Kids Camp! (Day 2)

by Maddie Howell | June 26, 2018 9:31 PM

Day 2 of camp was a success! There is something special about having so many kids with pure joy in one place. Singing songs with them has been a blast!

Jesus Rescues

by Maddie Howell | June 26, 2018 9:34 PM

In the Bible station this morning, we talked about a story right before Jesus had to go die on the cross. The main idea was that when we are struggling, Jesus rescues! We have some talented actors here, that’s for sure.

Beds are piling up!

by Almando Jean Louis | June 26, 2018 9:40 PM

We have exceeded our expectations today in building beds. We built 7 yesterday and 23 today. We are shooting for 30 tomorrow. God is good!!

Teavhing time

by Almando Jean Louis | June 27, 2018 7:16 PM

God is a work in our midst. We are honored to be his hands and his feet to the little children as they grow in number every day at the camp. We hope that the spiritual seeds that have been planted in their lives grow and bear much fruit.

Kids Camp! (Day 3)

by Maddie Howell | June 27, 2018 9:27 PM

Today felt like one of the hottest days yet, but just look at all these precious faces! We have only had more and more fun each morning at kids camp. Pray for a lot of rest and energy so we can be all in on our last day tomorrow!

Crafts!

by Maddie Howell | June 27, 2018 9:31 PM

At the craft station today, we made crosses with stickers and jewels on them. As the day went on, we realized that every kid decided it would be a great idea to put the stickers ALL over their faces!! At least that’s better than paint, right?

Afternoon Ministry! (day 3)

by Maddie Howell | June 27, 2018 9:38 PM

We found out today some of the background stories of the schools we have been painting! Both got destroyed in hurricane Matthew, and they are hoping to have students there again in August. We are so blessed to be a part of a bigger story God is writing.

We are also thankful that we get to bless a friend with a new house this week. Although we are just getting started, we trust that it will be done soon, because that’s the kind of caring person Jesus is!

Friends and family, keep posting comments!! We are tired and need encouragement to finish off this incredible week!

A wet morning...

by Maddie Howell | June 28, 2018 10:34 PM

Right as we were about to start vbs, it started POURING rain. Luckily, we were able to figure out a solution quickly and our last kids ministry was still such a success!!

Last Day of Kids Camp:(

by Maddie Howell | June 28, 2018 10:40 PM

Luckily, the rain didn’t last forever! We were eventually able to play soccer and games outside too.

We got to talk to the kids about Jesus once again before saying goodbye! During this time of prayer, we asked them to think about what things in their life are weighing them down, and told them to give it all to God.

Bed Delivery!

by Maddie Howell | June 28, 2018 10:49 PM

We had the opportunity today to deliver the beds we made to the families that are receiving them! We got to pray with some of them too. It was incredible getting to see the faces that are being blessed with them, and we hope it means even more than we know.

A Perfect Evening

by Maddie Howell | June 28, 2018 10:50 PM

For our last night before heading back to the city, we decided to have dinner and program on the beach. It was so restful!

A Perfect Evening

In picnic form

by Almando Jean Louis | June 30, 2018 3:53 AM

We had the chance to have lunch at Eden Haiti which is a garden one of the partners of praying pelican missions, pastor Jean Delcy, spent 18 years developing. We have learned that the garden was destroyed by the hurricane Matthew, but it was still gorgeous. We had a lot of fun!!
