We made it!

by Kaylea Dresner | June 9, 2018 8:17 PM

We made it safely to Puerto Rico! We arrived at Puerto Rico Christian School where we will be staying for the week. We enjoyed a delicious meal, and celebrated Mike’s birthday with chocolate cake! We are excited to see what God does this week.

Church!

by Kaylea Dresner | June 10, 2018 8:39 PM

Today we attended Iglesia D.F. La Nueva Cosecha where we will be serving the rest of the week. Pastor Cruz and his church family were very welcoming. They allowed us to share several songs we prepared, and they cooked a delicious meal of rice, beans, chicken, salad, etc. The food never stops here! Before leaving the church, we prayed over the people whose houses we will be repairing.

Up on the roof top

by Kaylea Dresner | June 12, 2018 5:59 AM

Today we all worked extremely hard. We split up into different projects around the community including roof scraping and repair, house cleaning, church cleaning, and concrete breaking. It was a long day of hard work, but we were amazed at what we were able to accomplish in God’s name. We were also blessed by the wonderful hospitality of church members who fed us and cared for us through the day.

Destroying a House, building a relationship

by Jose David Figueroa | June 13, 2018 4:44 AM

Part of the team was tasked with destroying a house in the community. What they found was more then a house, but the home of Miguel, a retired teacher who specializes in sign language and is also an avid study of the musical genre called "Bomba Puertorriqueña" He tecahes deafs kids about this music thru vibrations. We also need his mother of 90 years old. While the team was tearing down the house they were building an amazing relashionsip of love and thankfulness with Miguel and his mother.

Missions Accomplished

by Kaylea Dresner | June 14, 2018 5:29 AM

As we come towards the end of the week, some projects are coming to completion! The Catholic Church clean up team finished the job and went above and beyond to help this church who hasn’t had the means or opportunity to do so themselves. The team working on Miguel’s demo project worked extremely hard to finish the job by the end of the day. Puchi’s house clean-up and roof repair project is coming to a close as well. We have come a long way with the installation of bathroom showers for the church as well! We even started working on another roof repair at Flor’s house and a swing set restoration. We are working so hard to get as much done as we can for this loving community who has poured just as much of their hearts out serving us throughout the week.

Goodbyes

by Kaylea Dresner | June 14, 2018 11:54 PM

Today was a bittersweet day as we finished some projects and said goodbye to our Iglesia de Nueva Cosecha family. We were able to do some more roof repair and paint at local homes as well as continue on the plumbing and rooftop project at the church. Pastor Cruz cooked pinchos for lunch and hamburgers for dinner. After the farewell service, He graciously gave us candy, hats, and key chains. We will miss these wonderful people and will never forget the time we have spent with them this week.

Old San Juan

by Kaylea Dresner | June 15, 2018 1:04 PM

Today on our way to the airport we we’re able to spend a couple of hours in the beautiful historic Old San Juan. We had an amazing week and we cannot thank God enough for what He has done in our lives and the lives of the Cupey community, Pastor Cruz, and the Iglesia de Nueva Cosecha.
