Off and Running

by Staff | June 19, 2011 9:39 PM

We got up early, had an early flight and arrived in Belize this morning! Right away we had a chance to go and visit the residents at a home for the elderly in Belize City. They were so sweet and precious! We got to see some of Belize City, had lunch and then drove two hours north of the airport and got settled in for the night with lots of songs and creative work with mosquito nets. There’s a fun mix of US states and churches represented here in the groups serving in other villages this week!. We look forward to a full day tomorrow!

VBS and Rain

by Staff | June 20, 2011 10:58 PM

We had a great time kicking off VBS today. There was a LOT of rain this morning, and our first day at the primary school was really cozy. We piled into one classroom, and had a lovely morning. Here is one of our biggest fans!

Painting the Rectory

by Jennie O | June 20, 2011 11:03 PM

We had a nice long afternoon of painting at the rectory. Everyone pitched in to get it the next step closer to complete. The ground floor now has a coat of paint on the ceiling and all the walls now. It's coming along! Our group is so spunky and fun.

No Place Like Home

by Staff | June 21, 2011 9:43 PM

Andi sharing her home and the United States as a whole by drawing a map for the Standard 3 group. We shared how far our homes are from the children's but were able to be brought together through the common loves we share of music, stories, sports and most important the Lord. Thank you for your continued support, your love continues to inspire.

One Big Happy Family

by Staff | June 21, 2011 9:48 PM

Our recent graduates of 2011 preparing to help congratulate another class of 2011. We were blessed with the opportunity to join in the celebration for the San Estevan class of 2011 at La Immaculadad church. A beautiful service and celebration followed before we headed off for dinner and some rest as we prepare for another hard day of work tomorrow.

No Mosquitoes Allowed

by Staff | June 22, 2011 7:22 PM

The girls room with all of their mosquito nets hanging up. So far so good with avoiding as many bites as possible. Hopefully the hot weather we have been having will keep them all away!

Community Visits

by Staff | June 22, 2011 7:31 PM

Today we split into separate groups and were guided through the community of San Estevan to the sick and elderly's homes. We had some very moving conversations and were able to connect on an individual level to the elderly as we have been with the children.

by Bethany R. | June 25, 2011 5:35 PM

Well the time has come that we say our goodbye's to the beautiful country and people of Belize. Christ showed up in a mighty way this past week as we allowed Him to work through us. We can't wait to get back home and share our experiences. Thank you all for your prayers!

...missing your updates :( However, I can imagine that tiredness is setting in a little bit in all of you but don't despair, get your second wind because today is your day to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Belize. Have fun, be safe. I hope you enjoy your day that you all deserve so much. Love you, mom.

June 24, 2011 4:53 AM

Woke up, got coffee and pulled up the journal- boo, hoo. I have so enjoyed seeing and hearing from you guys. Then I remembered you are in a foreign country and there are always glitches. Today, the feast of St. John the Baptist, thirty years ago, Our Lady of Medjugorje came to earth for the first time, to call all of us back to Her Son - Jesus. I imagine She smiles upon each of you today as you walk in the footsteps of Our Lord. Mirjana, the visionary, told me once to say your first Hail Mary of the day for the nonbeliever to feel the love of God because once they feel God's love they can not help but believe. She said it is the nonbeliever that causes so much strife in our world. Your work is part of the Church's mission on Earth. I will pray that the love of God surround each of you in a way you have never experienced before. Have a great day!!! Love, Mom and Mrs. Terri

Enjoy the time you have left in Belize! I can't wait to hear all of your amazing stories!
