We Have Arrived!

by Team | March 10, 2012 9:17 PM

After a long day of travel, we are finally here! Haiti is a big, beautiful and (quite) warm country! Upon arrival we hopped on the bus and drove an about an hour to the community of Grand Goave, Haiti. This is the location where Don and John worked after the earthquake. What a wonderful experience it was to see the property we have heard so much about! After singing, playing and eating some lunch, we drove an additional 3+ hours to the village here in Les Cayes, Haiti. We were greeted with a host of new faces eagerly awaiting our arrival! We took some time to settle in to our lodging on the beach and then ate a wonderful meal of beef stew, bread and fresh juice. Now its time to get some rest and prepare for tomorrow! We are excited to begin our work here in Grambouchi, Haiti. Be in prayer for us as we show the love of Christ to this community this week!

Bonswa from Haiti! Today was a day full of excitment, prayer and vision. We woke up to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and stepped outside of our cabins to see the beach in the daylight for the first time. What a beautiful sight! After breakfast we went to church at Grace Community Church which is within walking distance from our lodging. We loved getting to worship our Lord and Savior with the Haitian people! It was an experience that we will never forget. After church and lunch, we began our first walk through the village. We met many of the people in the village and began buildings relationships throughout as well. We even spent quite a bit of time at our ministry location praying over the site and the people there. It was incredible to feel the energy and excitement of the Haitian as well as the team for the upcoming week. (Picture below) Later we began setting up for our movie night at Eden-Haiti, a garden that is ran and kept up by Jean Delcy. We watched The Chronicles of Narnia (in French) and had over 200 people show up! How encouraging! Please keep us in your prayers as we begin the work of building the home tomorrow. We are so excited to be in Haiti!

Prayer is Power

by Team | March 11, 2012 8:03 PM

Spending time in prayer at the ministry site. We know prayer is powerful, so we prayed over the location for the house and over Admise and her family. (Whom the house is for.)

Let the work begin!

by Team | March 12, 2012 6:59 PM

Today was our first full day of ministry! We started the day off by watching the village children come into the school in their pink and green uniforms, officially kicking off school ministry for this week. We sangs songs, taught the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt through a skit and made bracelets with the kids. The smiles on their faces were priceless! (Picture above) After school ministry we walked to our construction site and began sifting sand and unloading blocks for the house! What hard work! We were blown away by the willingness of the Haitian people to work alongside us. We then had lunch and split up into three teams. One for prayer walking and community outreach, one for kids ministry on the beach and one for continued construction on the house. It was absolutely awesome to think about how God's love was interspersed throughout the community! Continue to keep us in your prayers as we work on the house for Admise and her family. All glory to God!

Making Progress!

by Team | March 13, 2012 8:01 PM

Wow, what a day! We began the day with school ministry, teaching the kids the story of the battle at Jericho. They loved our skit where they got to scream and yell to bring the wall down! We even learned a few songs in Creole last night and surprised them. They were so excited and sang so loud! We then got back to work on the house and spent all morning there. We moved over 400 blocks and completed almost all of the walls in the house! We were amazed at the help we received from the community to finish the house for Admise. All of the men and women donating their time and labor free of charge, what an incredible blessing! We are looking forward to completing most of the house tomorrow! (Picture) After lunch we split up into groups, some of us doing door to door and community visits while others helped with kids ministry on the beach. Today alone during community visits we had 7 people commit their lives to Christ! Praise the Lord! They will be connecting with our host pastor to get involved in church and learn more about Christ as their faith grows. After four long hours of hard work and play, we ended beach ministry and community visits. We ate some supper and began setting up for our second movie night! The crowd was even bigger than on Sunday night and we watched Facing the Giants. We loved hearing the Haitian children call out our names as they saw us, wanting to sit next to us for the movie. For many of us, it is these moments that we will hold in our hearts forever. Keep us in your prayers, the Lord is showing up in mighty ways on this trip! To Him be the praise!

How Deep is a Latrine Anyway?

by Team | March 15, 2012 6:02 AM

Today was an incredible day full of ministry! We are proud to report that our portion of the house is complete! We finished the windows (made of decorative heart-shaped blocks) and sifted all the sand for the moldings and front porch. We even finished digging the latrine, which we decided was about 6 ft or more deep. What a workout! We are also proud to report that through donations, the house project is fully funded and will be under construction after we leave! Praise the Lord! We will be returning tomorrow for a group picture and prayer with Admise over her new home. We spent quite a bit of today connecting with the people of Grambouchi. Five more people accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord of their life! It is incredible to watch how the Lord is working. After beach ministry and playing with the kids, we went to a youth service at church. Wow! What a difference from our services in the States! We were amazed at the joy and energy in that church and the desire that the youth had to praise the Lord. We ask that you pray for us as we head out for a day of recreation tomorrow. Pray for safety and rejuvination.

Camp-Perrin

by Team | March 16, 2012 5:57 AM

After ministry, we took some time to enjoy ourselves and see a little bit of the hidden treasures of Haiti. We traveled to a hidden waterfall set back in the mountains. We got to jump off a cliff into the waterfall and then down into the pool at the bottom. It was so beautiful!

As the week wraps up and comes to a close, we look back on our experience here in Haiti with laughter, tears and smiles. We thank the Lord for constantly preparing the way for us and for all of our supporters back home who made this week possible. Haiti has a special place in our hearts. We will never forget this trip! I think this may be the last day of posts y'all actually get to read before leaving there Friday morning. You have accomplished AMAZING things and I have so enjoyed reading your journals each day! When you asked for prayers last night and said that God is showing up in mighty ways, I got tears in my eyes! I know you all prayed for that and God never disappoints us in His faithfulness. To many there, you have been the hands and feet of Jesus, but to others you were like the hem of his garment and that's all they needed to touch to be healed! In every act of kindness you provided, every prayer you whispered, every song you sang, every block you lifted, and every smile you gave, the love of Christ was spread through you to these beautiful people!! You are in my prayers for the last moments of your time in Haiti and your safe return home! Please tell my sweet daughter "to fly on angels' wings"! Cheer4U! and God bless! p.s. Tell her, too, that Jason's doing a great job! She trained him well! =)

Looks like everything is going great there. We miss you very much and look forward to having you home again. Don't worry about the kids. Dylan is just fine and as far as Megan knows her mommy is on a bus going to Katie's (thats what she tells everyone). Dylan is right here and wants to say " I miss you soooooo much. I cant wait for you to come home so I can hug you" Don't worry about us and remember the scripture's on your gloves if you miss us. We will see you soon. We love you.

What a joy it is to see your pictures and know of the work you all are doing for the Haitian people, and for the cause of Christ. For years, Tonya has felt God calling her to be a missionary. Knowing she is doing what she dearly loves to do with other Christians; sharing Christ with a lost world and singing songs that lifts the spirit and brings the lost to Christ. May God bless and meet your every need. Please give my love and kisses to my baby girl. We look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing all the stories when you get home. Praying for you all to lead many souls to Christ while you are there. Uncle Aquila called this morning to see if I had heard anything from you. He is praying for you and he loves you, too. Cast all your cares on Him for He careth for you.

What great pics and stories of your days in Haiti! I love the smiles! In the Bible, we are told to be of GOOD CHEER - not just cheer, but GOOD cheer, no matter what our circumstances. It shows that you are doing JUST THAT! Working hard, but doing it all through the love of Christ ! Keep smiling and know each day that you are in my heart and in my prayers. Hugs to my Pamela - tell her I am SO excited to be going today to take care of her little Dylan and Megan for the last few days of your trip! Cheer4U! and God bless! Gloria/Mom

Hi y'all from Georgia! I tried to post last night, but it disappeared! I am actually tearing up just seeing a picture of my daughter, Pamela, and your wonderful mission team right here on my computer - so many miles away! But you know, that is just what God does! He connects His people in whatever way He can in His perfect way and perfect timing! What a miracle to be able to read what you are doing and actually SEE you there! I know God has each of you in His protective arms as you have followed His will for you to make this trip to a place and people who so need the love of God shared with them! He has placed in each of you the strength, the wisdom, the love and the peace to do what He has called you to do. He will use each of your talents and personalities to carry out HIS mission for this trip and I know each of you will return home forever changed by your experience. As you bless these children and adults in Haiti, God will bless you! I, and MANY others are keeping you in our prayers! Please give Pamela a group hug for me and tell her I love her sooooooooooooo much! I am so blessed to be her mother! Have an awesome day, y'all!!!! Cheer4U! and God bless!!!!
