Team Arrives

Around 9:00pm the team arrived at Restoration Ministry Center. We took a quick tour of the ministry lead by Lionel, who also shared his testimony to the youth. We then drove to the place we would be staying for the week. The youth began humming the tune to Rocky as they found out they would be staying at a boxing center!

After a nice breakfast we all headed out to New Community Church. The members were excited to see us and prayed for our ministry in Chicago. After some lively singing we heard an inspirational message on surviving societal ills. The service ended with all of us holding hands praying for each other.

The team was excited about getting to go downtown to hand out lunches and cold water to the homeless. We made over 40 sandwiches and loaded up in 3 vans to deliver the lunch snacks.

Three teams were made and the youth went out to offer the homeless on the streets of Chicago a cool drink, a lunch snack, and prayer. We encountered many homeless people each with a unique story. They were very thankful and most of them allowed us to pray for their needs.

Today is our first day of ministry. The team has split into several groups. The kitchen crew made lunches and helped with snacks. The craft crew did a great job making sand pictures. Three boys were group leaders for the younger kids And the last group went to the thrift shop to help unload a truck of donations.

After a fantastic dinner from the cook at the Restoration House we got to hear the testimony of two young men who were recovering residents. When they were through the team prayed for the men to stay strong in their faith.

We enjoyed our last dinner at the center and went back to change clothes for Wednesday worship at the Spirit of God . Here we heard the testimony of Ed Kannapel, another man of God serving with the homeless people. We enjoyed a little fellowship afterwards and headed home for the night.

This is a Greek restaurant that was named after the billy Goat who lost the World Series for the cubs. We all has the famous boorgers and chips. A couple if the guys tried the fried egg on top of their hamburger.

After a full day of walking all over Chicago we finally sat down for the famous Chicago pizza! Believe it or not, the youth wanted to stop at the yogurt ice cream shop before heading back to the boxing center for the night. Everyone shared their highlights if the week and gave each other affirmations.
