We have arrived

by Josuè Etienne | March 25, 2017 9:03 PM

Yesterday, after a long day traveling from home to Haiti, we finally made it safe here at Good Shepherd Orphanage. We spent a lot of time in traffic because the national soccer team was playing in the biggest stadium of the country. But thanks to God everything was good. We woke up early and prompted to go to work after breakfast. We were so excited to meet new people and for some of us to see our old friends. When we got there, the Haitian workers were already there and they were working so hard hauling bucket of concrete. So, we just jumped to the bucket line and help them hauling the buckets so the project can faster and easier. The best part of it is for some of us who has been there before, we could meet our old friends from last year. That was so cool to see them again and to see how they still remember our names.

In the afternoon

by Josuè Etienne | March 25, 2017 9:07 PM

We came back to the orphanage and ate lunch. The orphanage always let the kids from the community to come and be fed. But on Saturday, they let them come to teach them about the Gospel. As we were there we played and love on them. That was our way to share gospel with them since love is Gospel. After they left we spent the rest of the afternoon with the boys at the orphanage. We played basketball with them and soccer. And we also hangout with them. It was a great day and we can not wait to go to church tomorrow and worship alongside our Haitian brothers and sisters.

Church!

by Gloirgens Jean | March 27, 2017 3:32 PM

It was amazing being able to worship alongside our brothers and sisters at Mariani church, we don't speak the same language but we're serving the same God, and one day we will be worshiping in one common language. Rachel shared a great testimony. God is good!!!!

youth ministry!

by Gloirgens Jean | March 27, 2017 3:50 PM

we spent a great time with the youth from three different churches (Mariani, Bertin and Cote plage). It was so fun interacting with them, laughing, playing funny games that they taught us. We've learned so much from each other that we would never forget that moment.

WY WY!!! It's a cool way for the haitian construction workers to say FASTER FASTER!!! We really enjoyed passing buckets of concrete to pour the roof of the church office. we were hot, sweating, dirty and tired, but it was all for the glory of GOD!

Bucket line

by Gloirgens Jean | March 28, 2017 6:11 PM

We passed a lot of buckets today. A friend of us has a saying " Let's keep building of kingdom of God by passing buckets of love". We are happy that we had to be part of the construction work this week, and see the kingdom of God being built, May the name of God be blessed!.

Hard to say Good bye!!

by Gloirgens Jean | March 28, 2017 6:57 PM

Kids ministry today was the best. We had such a great time with the Kids. They are special in God's sight, and they are blessed. We played some crafts with them and enjoyed their beautiful and contagious smiles,we thank God for this privilege, for bringing joy to us through these children. Each one of our lives have been impacted by our experiences this week. The hardest moment was to say"Good bye" since today was our last day hanging out with them, we have created bond that can't be undone.Keep praying for this kids back Home as they are growing up in the Kingdom of God.
Hard to say Good bye!!

I hope that all of you had a fantastic final day in Haiti! This is a very meaningful trip and I'm sure that each one of you has experienced God in an unexpected way. You can all be proud of what you have accomplished there. For Scott, Rachel, and Abby, what a blessing to be able to share this experience together. You will never forget this. And while Will and I have had fun dining around Naperville, we have missed you! The house has been too quiet. We are so looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Safe travels home to all!

Happy Wednesday Pelicans! Ok so technically those were riddles and not jokes, but you all are becoming ever so familiar with life's riddles. Why is one person born into a stable family with security and opportunity and others not? Why do some stand by while others jump in to make change? How can you seemingly give everything and somehow find even more to give, and even after that you may find you have more then when you started? God bless you all and safe travels.

Hey friends!! I love so much seeing the pictures from your trip and the church and the kids and all your smiling faces. It’s a nice reminder that you’re actually there because I tried to text Bobbi today and then realized she was out of the country so there’s that. I know the Famge’s are a power team and killing it with the playground. I love that you’re all there together – crop me into your pictures please @Marty… I hope you are being kept busy without my nose bleeds. Everyone who needs care is more than lucky to be taken care of by you. @Rachel… Hey hobo. I am going to (try) and keep up on Survivor for you so we can talk about it when you get back. I opened one of your notes this afternoon because I was missing you and it was THE BEST. Every time I read something from you I don’t think you can make me laugh or smile any more with your comments and memories BUT THEN YOU DOOOO! So that’s unfair but I miss you a lot and if I happen to fall behind on Survivor we will have a MARATHON in the summer and eat caramel waffle cone ice cream and it will be beautiful. Excited to hear about the rest of your trip when you all get back!! Keep working hard and having fun :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Love & hugs, Hannah

Happy Tuesday, Pelicans. May God bless you and your mission. So here is the final four of bad pelican jokes: What do you call a pessimistic pelican? Pelican't. Why did the pelican go to church? It wanted to be a bird of pray. When is it hardest to see pelicans? When they are in "da skies". Why does no one order a pelican burger? Because it comes with such a big bill. You decide which is the biggest groaner! Good luck to you all and the lives you are changing.

Hi dear Rachel Kamp and friends, I've been thinking and praying for you while you share this special life experience together. Every Sunday, at the top of our church bulletin, are the words: Love God, love one another, Reach Out The goal for each of us. And you, especially, have accomplished just that, as you complete your spiritual and hard working week. Can't wait to hear your stories. Are there any sloths in Haiti? I once saw one in Panama and they are delightful to watch, as they move in slow motion or sleeping upside down in a tree. Gods blessings to all

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well in Haiti. I am praying that God is planting seeds of love, compassion and joy in your hearts this week and that those seeds will grow into hope and passion for those in Haiti. Our daughter, Alyssa, and I have taken the journey you are currently on, and it has changed how we look at the world. I hope you too will look at the world though new eyes, and that when you come back you will share all that you have experienced during this week with others. I am picturing all of you at Good Shepherd Orphange, and I can hear the laughter of the children there, can see the wonderful ocean from the roof top, and can feel the warmth of Sister Mona as she teaches you about the mission of the orphange. We love all of you and make sure to give our Haitian friends a hug from us. Can't wait to hear about your trip when you get back. God's blessings to all of you,

Hi everyone I hope you are having a fabulous time enjoying all the sights, sounds, and smells of Haiti! For those of you who are there for the first time, embrace every part of this trip. Surprisingly you'll come to miss being woken up by dogs barking, roosters crowing dnd all the other noises that occur at 2 am. And try all the food, it's actually kinda my favorite. For everyone who may be going for their second, third, or maybe this is even your last trip to Haiti, don't forget to keep your eyes open and experience something new. Each time I got the opportunity to go to Haiti, there was always something new that made me love the people and country even more. Cherish all the sunrises, sunsets, the late night talks and everything in between. I will continue to pray for you all. Please give all the little kiddos an extra little hug for me, I think I may miss them the most. Love you all and can't wait to hear about your amazing trip when you get back! Oh and Marty, try not to get yourself into too much trouble, we'd all like you back in one piece!
