We have arrived

by Josuè Etienne | March 19, 2017 1:50 PM

After a long trip we had finally arrived. Our Haitian staff were there waiting for us. Then we headed to Carrefour to Good Shepherd orphanage. We were excited to be welcomed warmly by the kids of the community. It was a blast. Right after we had lunch we were invited in a wedding. we were so happy because we got the chance to attend to a Haitian wedding. it was special for us. Two people who had been living together for 30 years was getting married. They realized that it was good to live 30 years together without getting married but not good to die in that situation, then they decided to get married even if they were old. That was such a good exemple for us as christian to fallow. We had a wonderful day and we can not wait to go to church tomorrow to worship with our Haitian brothers and sisters.

At the church

We had good rest last night and this morning we woke up and ready to go to church. After breakfast, we got on a nice chuck to go to church. It was a fun ride because we were able to see and greet the people all around the street. Church lasted about 3 hours but we did not feel tired because it was good to worship with our Haitian brothers and sisters. We could sing many songs with them because those songs are the same as the songs we sing in our church back home. We really enjoyed church today. Every songs, prayers, scriptures and the sermon were matched. We were blessed to be reminded of strengthening our relationship with God today. It was awesome.

The afternoon

After church, we went back to the orphanage to eat lunch and we then had a very nice time with the kids to play soccer and basketball with the boys at the orphanage. These kids are very good at soccer. They have a great passion for soccer so they never got tired of playing. Tomorrow we will play with them again and we will let some more kids from the community to join us to play. After playing with the we went to visit a handicap place called ashca. We were overwhelmed to see those kids there. They are very nice and they were so happy to see us. We cannot wait to have some fun with them tomorrow. We thank God for this beautiful day and we are looking forward to see what God has in store for us tomorrow and the next days this week.

Happy to serve

by Josuè Etienne | March 22, 2017 7:01 PM

Each day of ministry started with a lot of happiness. We scraped the walls of the orphanage on the first day. On the second day ,we put the first coat of paint on the first floor. Today, we expected to paint all the orphanage but we could barely put the first coat of paint on the second floor unfortunately. The kids here always come alongside to work with us. That has been such a great encouragement for us to serve because they did not just let us work and say thank you, but they were there to make their home look better. So we could not do a lot during those 3 days but we feel blessed for what we could do for them.

Feeding program

by Josuè Etienne | March 22, 2017 9:26 PM

We felt blessed each day after lunch to be able to feed the children of the community. The orphanage that were are serving provides food for those kids everyday from Monday to Friday. They just bring their own spoon to eat. We have been setting food one plates and distributing the food everyday. Each one of them had a plate and some of us fed the little one who can not eat by themselves. After the feeding program we went to the same handicap place to play with the kids there. It is very hard to explain how the kids there were happy to see us doing craft and playing with them.Today they were even more excited when they saw the packages that we brought to give them. It was good to have that opportunity to make them feel loved.

Praise the Lord

by Josuè Etienne | March 22, 2017 9:46 PM

Today God did something special. As we went out to evangelize the community, we met that lady who decides to fallow Jesus after telling her for a few minutes about who Jesus is and how he loves us. her name is Irelene. We pray God to let her enter his kingdom. Now we have a new sister in Christ. God is good!

It sounds like you are having a wonderful experience. The Haitian people seem to be very warm and welcoming to you all. Am sure they are enjoying playing soccer and know you will provide them with fun memories as well as many acts of kindness. Luv reading the journal entries but have not received aanything since Sunday. Hope all is well with you and the Haitian orphans. Take care and we love you.
