We are Here!

by Leah and Bethany | July 10, 2011 2:30 PM

Hello all! We have arrived safe and sound here in Belize! We are so excited for this week to begin and get to see what the Lord has in store. Thank you all for your prayers!

Praising God through the storm

by Leah | July 12, 2011 2:45 PM

God is forever faithful! We are pushing through the rain and God is blessing us every second of every day. We are having a blast here in Belmopan, Belize. VBS is so much fun and the kids are having a blast. God has allowed us to begin our service project working on the pastors house and in spite of the rain we are getting done on God's time. Thank you so much for all your prayers and for your encouragement. We cant wait to share with you all that God has been doing for us. God Bless you!

VBS Highlights

by Eric R. | July 12, 2011 3:26 PM

VBS at Belmopan Nazarene Church has been a blast! Despite the rain, we had over 50 children come out on Monday afternoon and had even more show up today. We have sang songs, made crafts, played games like "don't let the balloon touch the ground" with the small children, had a puppet show, and shared Bible stories. Seeing the smiles on the children's faces has been such a blessing and we look forward to seeing more children as the week continues!

Updates from Cotton Tree!

by Bethany R. | July 12, 2011 3:38 PM

Things are going great with the group working at Cotton Tree Nazarene! We have made progress on our service projects, getting a chance today to move some dirt and dig a trench for what will soon be a new fence. We have also had two fantastic days of VBS, with over 100 kids participating each day! Keep checking back for more updates, including pictures from the service projects at both Belmopan Nazarene Church and Cotton Tree Nazarene!

Cotton Tree Service Projects

by Bethany R. | July 13, 2011 2:46 PM

Today has been quite a successful day for those of us in Cotton Tree! With the rain finally holding off, we were able to start on the cement work at two of the sites. We completed a header beam around an entire house and we mixed all of the concrete by hand! It was for sure hard and intense work, but we are filled with joy being able to help another in need. We had many children at VBS again today and we are already finding ourselves becoming attached. Please keep us in your prayers!

Belmopan Staying Busy!

by Bethany R. | July 13, 2011 2:56 PM

In Belmopan things are staying crazy busy! After having some breakfast we got to Pastor Magana's home and began painting. In spite of the rain, we got the majority of it finished! Praise the Lord!

by Bethany R. | July 13, 2011 3:05 PM

VBS was so wonderful again today! The kids really enjoyed the crafts of Play-Doh, coloring and making cards. Please join us in lifting up these children in prayer as we minister to them this week.

Xunantunich Recreation!

by Bethany R. | July 14, 2011 2:05 PM

Today we took some time to ourselves for recreation! We visited the Mayan Ruins at Xunantunich, Belize. These ruins showcase the biggest temples, altars and ball-courts in all of the sites in Belize. We loved getting to see such a historical site and imagining how the people lived back then. Did you know at the height of the Mayan civilization, the population of Belize was over 3 million people? That's 10 times as many people as there is in the country today! We also loved getting to see more of the rainforest and many different animals and wildlife. But quite possibly the best part was getting to the top of the largest temple and looking down on Guatemala. It was impressive to see the beautiful land our Lord has blessed us with! We then ate a quick lunch and headed to our site to kick off VBS for the evening. Thank you all for your prayers, we can feel them at work!

Hospital and Orphanage

by Bethany R. | July 15, 2011 2:59 PM

After a day of recreation we were well rested and excited for a day of ministry!n Our Belmopan group got to go to Belmopan General Hospital and the Belmopan Children's Orphanage. It was an amazing experience to see these institutions in another country and how they work. We got to prayer over many different families and individuals at the hospital. We ask that you be in prayer for Ruth, a young lady who is 5 months pregnant and was cut across the stomach with a knife. She is in recovery, but is in need of prayer. We also got to play with the children at the orphanage which was an incredible blessing and was so much fun! They were so excited to see us and to get to play with us. It was so hard to say goodbye to the children... it is amazing how much you can love a child with just 45 minutes with them

Last day of VBS

by Bethany R. | July 15, 2011 3:02 PM

Today was also our last day with the kids at VBS. It was so difficult to say goodbye to them, knowing we will probably not see them again. After many tears and long hugs, we said goodbye. We are amazed at how the Lord used these kids to show us His love this week. Their smiles will be something we will never forget.

Concrete Work is Done!

by Bethany R. | July 15, 2011 3:07 PM

For our Cotton Tree group, the hard labor is over! We finished up the concrete foundation this morning after 2 days of long, hard manual labor. After finishing the site, we circled up and prayed over the home that was being built there, that our foundation would be the catalyst for a home built out of love, that Christ would be shown through our actions and that the family that would one day live there would be blessed in their lives together. We are so thankful for being given the opportunity to experience building a Belizean home. Its vast contrast to homes in the states was a humbling experience to be a part of. We thank you all for keeping us in your prayers as no one was injured on our sites. Praise the Lord!
