Welcomed by the Church!

by Jessica Lynch | July 17, 2016 11:55 PM

Today the team attended the church service at Memorial Baptist Church in Chinle. It was a wonderful service that focused on Jesus as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Some were able to join in the worship songs, while others were able to give their testimony. After the sermon, Pastor had the congregation join us in groups and pray over the team for the week. It was such a blessing to be apart of their Sunday service, and to be welcomed with open arms and loving hearts!

Hiking Time!

After lunch, the team was able to go hiking at the Canyon De Chelly. Here is a group picture taken right before the 2.5 mile round trip hike to the bottom!

Experiencing God's Glory

by Jessica Lynch | July 17, 2016 11:59 PM

The beauty of the hike was magnificent! At the bottom of this glorious Canyon were Ancient Ruins and Navajo people who lived down in the Canyon. The hike was of course more of a battle going upward than downward, but we were all able to go the whole length and be surrounded by God’s beautiful masterpiece!

First Day of VBS!

by Jessica Lynch | July 18, 2016 1:02 PM

The team started their first day of Vacation Bible School today. There was about 20 kids that showed up for it, with hopes that their will be more as the week goes on. There were activities from crafts, music, games, movies, games, and Bible stories. Please pray for the next two days of VBS that more children join in, and that we are able to show God’s light through us and bring them closer to Christ.

Workday Fun

by Deanna Ver Schneider | July 19, 2016 12:33 PM

Yesterday we started working on Mrs. Darlene's home. We ripped the roofing off and started on the siding. While this home may not look like ours, it is no less precious to the owners. This is their home. Their family. And they are allowing us to help improve their living situation so they no longer have leaks coming from the roof, or wind coming in through the sides. We thank the Lord for providing the materials for this project!

Tuesday VBS

by Deanna Ver Schneider | July 19, 2016 3:29 PM

Day two of VBS is in the books! With about 30 kids, and lots of craziness, we were able to teach the kids about courage! The kids had a blast, as did we. Though a few of us, including Natalie and Kendra spent most of the time chasing kids who just wanted act crazy. Tomorrow is our last day of VBS, will you pray that we will be able to share the love of Jesus again? Will you pray for the kids to have an understanding of the Gospel? Now, on to construction and door to door invitations for the big Beth Moore event!

The Calm After the Storm

by Jessica Lynch | July 20, 2016 12:31 PM

Yesterday after lunch, the team split up in two groups – one passing out flyers/signing women up for the Beth Moore event, while the other group went over to Darlene’s house to work on the construction projects. Both were fairly successful, except that there were scattered storms throughout the afternoon. Although that made it slightly challenging to complete our tasks, God had a plan for our evening! The evening was filled with life stories and the magnificent beauty of Canyon De Chelly after the storm.

Last day of VBS!

by Jessica Lynch | July 20, 2016 12:34 PM

Today at our last day of Vacation Bible School, there were so many children! Although some of the kids were a handful, we all had a great time! The topic of the video station was Proverbs 3:6, how Jesus gives us direction, especially when we’re lost. The Bible stories station talked about Jesus’ Salvation, and expressed Jesus through a children’s book talking about his birth, miracles, death, and resurrection. The children were in awe at what they had learned! The crafts and games station was filled with fun, while the children were able to trace themselves on rolling paper and draw in what they think they look like. The children loved being able to spend these past three days here with the team. Between snacks, stories, fun, and games, the most meaningful thing all the children were able to experience was Jesus! If you could please pray for these children, that they learn more about who Jesus truly is, and that the team placed a special spot in their heart.

Nursing Home Fun!

by Jessica Lynch | July 23, 2016 10:11 AM

On Wednesday, most of the team was able to go to the local nursing home. It was such a blessing being able to spend time with all the residence there. A lot of them played sit down kick ball, while others built with popsicle sticks, colored, and got their nails painted. After all the playing was through, some of the team sang worship songs, which mostly all the people there loved and sang along with. May God bless all the kind hearts of the residence there, and of the team who chose to be so compassionate with them.

A Job Well Done!

by Jessica Lynch | July 23, 2016 10:32 AM

Thursday, early in morning, all of the team went to Darlene’s house to finish the hard work that had been done throughout the week. The team accomplished putting on roofing, siding, and painting her home. It was so amazing to see what a difference all of that made for her home. The team worked so incredibly hard this week to help with this project! Especially the one set group that would go over there every day, even during Vacation Bible School, and would come back late for dinner just to make sure they got the job done!

Recreation Day!

by Jessica Lynch | July 23, 2016 10:36 AM

After finishing up the construction projects, the team enjoyed their recreation day. Everyone went to experience Monument Valley in Utah! Half the team was able to hike almost 4 miles around the valley, while the other half drove around the scenic drive. It was so nice to reflect on God’s creations. Later in the evening we had delicious Indian Fry Bread and had a meeting closing out the week with reflections, affirmations, and worship music.

Saying Goodbyes

by Jessica Lynch | July 23, 2016 10:42 AM

Once Friday came, it was a super early morning on the road back home. It was hard saying goodbye to such an amazing group of people. I pray that God continues to work through this group to impact the lives of others and spread the good news of Jesus! And I pray for safe travels. I'm so happy to have met this team; may God bless you all!
