We have arrived

by Kevin Gamradt | July 23, 2016 4:47 PM

We have landed without any hiccups. After a 2 hour drive we have arrived to Lares. Lares is located in the mountainous region of Puerto Rico. Lares is actually in a valled surrouned by mountains on all sides. It is a beautiful reminder of God's creativity.

New friends in Christ

by Kevin Gamradt | July 24, 2016 9:18 AM

After enjoying chicken, rice, and beans made by our new church family we are getting to know each other. Bean bag toss, story telling, and taking in our mountain top view have been a great way to start our time in Lares

One in Christ

by Kevin Gamradt | July 24, 2016 9:58 AM

This morning we are taking part of Sunday worship with our host church Renuevo. The church has welcomed us in with open arms. After an encouraging Sunday school lesson on using our gifts to glorify God we are now taking part of the service through testimony sharing and music.

Hands and feet

by Kevin Gamradt | July 25, 2016 9:38 AM

Our afternoon has been full of relational ministry. We started with a testimony training in which the church took part of. It was amazing here how much in common we share with our Puerto Rican family. After getting to know each other we went out into the community around the churchministering and inviting the kids to the vbs this week. There were so much nneed and opportunity just a miles distance from the church. One mother In tears had been praying for God to send someone to minister to her 18 year old daughter struggling with depression. The team was able pray for this young lady and show her the hope that we havery in Christ. We cannot wait for Monday!!

Roof over our head

by Kevin Gamradt | July 25, 2016 6:42 PM

Most of our team has been helping to build the overhang roof in the back of the church. This roof will keep rain from pooling into the church and allow a patio for church functions.

Tonight we are joining the church for their weekly prayer service. It is a time of intentionally praying for each other needs, the cummunity, and the Island.

Work Work Work!

by Daniel Fink | July 26, 2016 2:24 PM

The roof is coming along so well and the team has been working hard on it. They are building connections with some local church members as well that are helping them in the construction process! It is amazing to see how they are able to communicate the work that needs to be done despite having a language barrier. God is so good!

Natural Spring Pool!!

by Daniel Fink | July 26, 2016 2:31 PM

In this picture you see a natural spring pool. There is a man who lives by that has agreed to let us use the pool for our VBS if we clean it out (and boy does it need A LOT of cleaning). So far we have spent time mowing the area, draining the pool, cleaning out all the leaves and much much more. We were even surprised to find a couple of crabs at the bottom after we drained it!! We are excited to see what it looks like after it is completed!
