Mission Trip Info

As thousands of participants have had life-changing experiences while serving with one of our partners in our host locations, we know — now more than ever — that each trip is as different as the individuals on it. We have found that every team leaves the trip with different experiences, perspectives, and memories to bring home with them. Praying Pelican Missions trips are planned with the needs of local pastors and churches in mind as well as your gifts, abilities, and goals for your group.

Ministry Options. use your gifts.

Minister to children through leading kids’ clubs, Vacation Bible School, puppet shows, crafts, Bible stories, sports, skits, and games.

Live out the gospel through your work on various projects from painting, roofing, cement work, tiling, or whatever projects are needed in the community.

Worship alongside a local church and participate by providing special music, sermons, testimonies, or help lead Sunday School.

Use sports such as soccer, basketball, Frisbee, volleyball, or any large-group game as a platform for building relationships and sharing the gospel.

Bless communities through times of intercessory prayers during prayer walks or pray with local churches at a prayer meeting.

During the school year your team could minister at local schools by leading devotions, tutoring students, observing classes, or participating in recess.

Be the hands and feet of Christ as you visit and minister to those that others may have forgotten in orphanages, hospitals, prisons, senior centers, and shut-ins.

Assist the local church in outreach by handing out Bibles, street evangelism, door-to-door visits, or sharing the gospel through DVD.

Connect directly with youth in the community by leading a youth rally, fellowship night, or worship.

Lead parenting classes, Bible studies, or leadership training. One of our Belizean pastors shared that when you minister to adults, you are ministering to entire families and communities.

If your group has specialized medical or dental training, your skills can be of great help in many of our ministry locations. (Note: Due to government regulations, medical ministry is not available everywhere. Please call 888-PPM-4090 to find out more!)

Have a unique ministry that God has blessed you and your team to be able to lead? Let us know, and we will incorporate it into your customized trip.

Ministries will be determined by the largest team participating on the trip, though generally the smaller teams are able to participate in the ministries they prefer as well. PPM trips are a genuine team effort. Your team leader will hold at least one (usually more) conference call to get everyone together and coordinate ministries. Everyone will work together to build an itinerary customized to your group's gifts.

Teams that select a trip with standard sleeping accommodations will sleep on the floor of a church, school, or community center. They will be divided by gender, and men's and women's rest rooms/showers will be available. Teams that choose a trip with hotel option usually sleep 3-5 people per room, with two people per double bed and individuals sleeping in single beds. All rooms are designated either male or female. There is no gender mixing.

All teams will have opportunities and are encouraged to bathe during their trip.

Couples will be divided into gender-specific rooms unless an additional room is paid for in advance.

Families may stay together in their own room, provided they have 3-5 people.

Absolutely. Anyone can Be The Pelican! We welcome families with children, junior high, high school and college students, and adults of any age! However, much of the work we do in our host countries requires a certain level of maturity. In general we ask that children are at least 12 years of age, but we are open to discussion.

Each group is responsible for booking their own flights, however, PPM partners with the travel agency, Mango Creek Travel, who is available to handle any team larger than 10. We recommend Mango Creek Travel to assist in finding your flights and ensure the best mission experience possible!
