Walking Tall Wilmington

by Rebecca Bell | March 17, 2019 7:03 PM

We are blessed to have Marya from Walking Tall Wilmington to share with us for our first team meeting. She shared about how we will be sharing meals with people, and how we should never use the word homeless to describe them. It was eye opening.

Sharing Meals on the River

by Rebecca Bell | March 18, 2019 10:32 AM

This morning we had the opportunity to eat breakfast with our friends from Walking Tall Wilmington. Some of the people had many interesting stories and lives. For their privacy, we did not take any pictures of our friends, but picture one on one conversations and small groups talking. Some were standing, while others were sitting.

Gardening anyone?

by Rebecca Bell | March 18, 2019 10:38 AM

This morning,  we went to Walking Tall Garden. We went there to help them because their garden, which is a food source for their ministry was damaged. We pulled weeds, watered the soil,  helped clean out a work shed, and various other things while mingling and working with other teams.

Wilmington Response

by Rebecca Bell | March 18, 2019 4:50 PM

This afternoon, we went to Wilmington Response. Before we started helping, we heard about the impact of the hurricane even 6 months after it happened  Many are still displaced. Many lost everything and still don't have a permanent place to call home. We made 300 food boxes and sorted clothes. As a result, people will be able to get food boxes soon and Wilmington Response will be able to help people get the right sized clothes quickly.

Forest of Dreams

by Rebecca Bell | March 19, 2019 2:14 PM

We spent the morning at Forest of Dreams doing landscaping for the safety of 300 students who get dropped off in front if it to go to 2 different afternoon programs. We picked up trash, pulled weeds, and cleaned up the fence above it. We heard how the fence was an extension if the mural, but was destroyed by the hurricane.  We all worked together.

Worship

by Rebecca Bell | March 19, 2019 10:50 PM

We worshipped during our team meeting. In addition,  we shared about a lady who lived in an extremely small FEMA trailer that we took her food and supplies. She was so thankful for everything we did and brought. We not only prayed for her, but she then prayed for us. Then, we had the privilege of hearing Rudy's testimony of how missionaries to Haiti changed his life.  What an awesome night!

by Rebecca Bell | March 20, 2019 1:12 PM

This afternoon,  we went to a refugee house by the church. We removed carpet,  tact boards, and carpet staples. We moved the furniture and put their home back together.  Now, they will have better flooring.

Creating a home

by Rebecca Bell | March 20, 2019 6:16 PM

Today, we helped Habitat for Humanity put drywall up, install installation underneath the house, and clean up. It was a great bonding and learning experience.
