After settling in last night, we started our trip with a great night of worship. It was a beautiful moment!

“I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”” Psalm 122:1 ESV
This morning, we were able to join the congregation of First Baptist Church of Dawson Springs for service. It was such a joy to be with God’s people!

After church, we were blessed to hear from some members of First Baptist Dawson Springs about their testimony and also their experiences the night of December 10 and the following weeks and months. It helped us understand and connect even more with the people here, and we’re even more excited now to help uplift this community!

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19 ESV
This morning, we are working to clean up one of the neighborhoods that was heavily impacted by the tornado. It’s been inspiring to see neighbor helping neighbor, churches serving alongside each other, and the light of Jesus shining brightly in the projects we do.

During lunch, our leader took time to talk to us about what we’ve seen and the common theme we’ve seen in our conversations with the community: contentment. It is such a joy to rest in the fact that our Savior is enough.

After lunch, we went to a nearby house whose roof was being replaced due to storm damage. We helped transfer a load of bricks and four layers of shingles to the dumpster. It was a blessing to get to serve them.

This morning, we spent time removing a root ball from one of the community members yards. It has been an awesome close up view of God’s creation and the ways that He takes what is bad and turns it into good.

Each day after work and any other free moment our team gets, they spend playing volleyball or basketball, or cards. They’re such a good team when it comes to making sure everyone is having a great time.

This afternoon, we are taking time to deep clean the church at which we are staying. It’s a joy and pleasure to give back to this church that has graciously opened its doors to us!

“For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also.”
Psalm 95:3-4 ESV
Today, we ventured to Mammoth Cave, the largest known cave system in the world. It was such a joy to be able to relax with friends and to witness and marvel at God’s beautiful creation.

You’ll never realize what your kids (or you) can handle until you stretch them out of their comfort zone a bit. Very proud of this group for stepping up and taking time out of there summer to do God's work. Be safe and drive safely in this crazy 4th of July traffic. God Bless you all.

I’m so proud of all the kids and their leaders for being willing to help do this clean up work!! We don’t understand the full impact it has on these people who have been so overwhelmed by their loss. May God continue to pour out His favor on you all!
