Calhoun Christian School

After a long 13+ hour day of driving from Michigan, the team has arrived in Tulsa. 

We are all settled in and getting some good rest tonight so we are ready for a great day of ministry tomorrow. 

Today we served the YouthWorks ranch which is located in North Tulsa and serves the youth in that area. We learned about the various educational programs they have in place to serve their community and we were blessed with the opportunity to help with preparing a garden, building a fence, lots of clean up, and rounding up various animals including pigs and chickens. It was a very warm and humid day, but we got a lot accomplished. 

Today our team met up at Wesley Chapel and organized flyers to pass out into the surrounding neighborhoods. The flyers are to promote the upcoming YouthWorks summer children’s camp.

We went door-to-door passing out the flyers, having conversations, and praying with the people we met. There were several great conversations and some tears of joy as the community was very excited about the opportunity. Already by lunchtime, three people from our morning efforts registered! 

We started off each day with a morning devotional. This week we are focusing on the story of Joseph in Genesis. 

Today is our last day of ministry and we have a full day ahead of us. 

We split up into several teams to go back to YouthWorks Ranch for several projects. 

The guys here are planting lettuce in the hydroponic greenhouse. The harvest from this greenhouse goes to several local grocery stores where there is a fresh food dessert and not enough local produce. 

Over at Wesley Chapel the other part of the team is making pizzas at the pizza factory to later distribute to the homeless population in the community. 

The group drove around the city of Tulsa distributing the pizzas they had made and praying with the homeless. What an amazing blessing these students have been to the city this week!
