Hope Academy

Christian, Daphne and Valeria are ready to receive the team and serve with them this week. We know God will do great things on this trip!

After some delays due to climate conditions, Hope Academy is officially back in Puerto Rico! We are quickly going to Puerto Rico Christian School, where a delicious plate of pasta and plantains with green salad is waiting for us. Tasty!

Tonight we are having a team orientation meeting. We are taking some time to discuss the plans for the week and guidelines to stay healthy. We are so excited to see what God has for us this week. 

After an amazing breakfast, we are joining Iglesia Presbiteriana Evangélica Westminster on their Sunday service. We are blessed to see how they celebrate Palm Sunday and begin the Holy Week alongside them. 

We are so excited to meet pastor Juan! It is  amazing being able to be part of his congregation today. We are so grateful for him welcoming us to his church.

This morning we are at Forjadores de Esperanza. We are helping them clean out their PE Classroom. We are so excited to organize and clean this area for the kids to able to use. We hope that having a nice area to play and exercise in is a blessing in their life.

We started our week at Puerto Rico Christian School trimming, leaf blowing and cutting trees, making sure that the school looks great when students come in next week.

This morning, we are emptying out the storage unit at Forjadores de Esperanza. The storage unit hadn’t been opened since hurricane Maria hit in 2017, so we are helping them by preparing the place to be able to receive new donations to hand out to the community. We are so happy to bless such a beautiful place in this way. 

In the afternoon, we continue our tasks from the morning. We're grateful for the progress and being able to serve this community.

After an amazing lunch, we are putting the sport equipment back into the PE room. It’s so amazing being able  to see how much progress has been made. We are so excited for the kids to have a place to hang out after school. 

This morning we are power washing the shed we cleared up yesterday. We are taking out all the documents that may get destroyed if they get wet. 

Tomorrow we will also do kids ministry, so we are preparing the outside bathroom so it can be used tomorrow. We are happy to assist when needed!

This morning at PRCS we're continuing our yard work on the school grounds . We're also moving things to and from storage. We're happy to help any way we can.

Now in the afternoon we are focusing more on tomorrow's kids ministry. We are cleaning the basketball court so we have a clean place to play with the kids. In case it rains, we also are clearing up a space inside the building so we can still play with the kids.

This morning we are continuing to power wash the basketball court at Forjadores de Esperanza. We are so happy to be able to bless these kids by cleaning up the area they play at for them. 

We're keeping up the hard work at the school entrance. We're excited for all of the community to see the fresh coat of paint once it is done.

This morning we are playing card games  and board games with the kids at Forjadores de Esperanza. It’s a blessing being able to get to know these kids and spend time with them. 

Tonight we have a space to debrief about our day and what we have done on the different worksites. We are also having some time to do a group devotional. It’s a blessing being able to end our day talking about the Lord and the great things He did throughout the day. 

Before we leave on our rec day we are taking some time to pray over Vivian. We ask that the Lord continues to protect her and her family, and bless they as they continue the ministry of the school. We are so happy to have met such an incredible woman and so blessed to have tried her delicious food. 

This morning we are at El Yunque National Rainforest. We are having so much fun hiking and swimming in the river! 

After such a fun day, we are ending it  in Georgettis with some ice cream. We are so blessed to have this day to unwind and enjoy Puerto Rico after a week of serving. 

This morning we are at the airport ready to catch a plane back home. We are so grateful for everything that God did this week in the places we served and in us. We are sad to leave but excited to go back home and continue the mission.
