We're here!

by Annie Schoessler | June 24, 2016 9:09 PM

We have arrived in Pignon! It was a long journey and we are tired, but we are loving our home for the week and settling in well. The hosts even had goat stew for us for dinner, a mark that there is something to be celebrated! God is good. We ask for your prayers as we rest up to start ministry tomorrow!

Many hands make light work!

by Naomi Bothe | June 25, 2016 5:36 PM

After a good night's rest and a wonderful breakfast we headed over to Pastor Abdons church where we are helping build a gazebo. We made a chain of people down the street to carry cement blocks to the church.

First day of VBS

by Naomi Bothe | June 25, 2016 5:47 PM

The kids loved the skit, craft and game we did for our first day of VBS today! Everyone did such a wonderful job jumping in and involving all of the children. We are very excited for the rest of the week we have planned!

Church!

by Naomi Bothe | June 26, 2016 8:27 PM

Today we got to experience a Haitian church service! A few of us even got up and led everyone in a few worship songs. It was awesome to hear everyone worship in their native languages. As Austin put it "worshipping God is a universal language."

Tree ministry

by Naomi Bothe | June 27, 2016 10:21 AM

This morning we are doing tree ministry! We are going out into the community with members of Pastor Abdons church to plant fruit trees for people while ministering and praying with them. This afternoon is more VBS. Our VBS attendance tripled as word spread about what we are doing which is awesome! Thank you all so much for keeping this team covered in prayer!

VBS is growing!

by Naomi Bothe | June 28, 2016 9:51 AM

Every day our VBS attendance is growing! The church is completely full of children. Everyone has loved working with the kids, and the kids love every minute of it.

Construction day

by Naomi Bothe | June 28, 2016 9:10 PM

While half the team went and did tree ministry this morning, the others stayed behind at the church and helped with the construction of the gazebo. It is hot today but everyone is all smiles while we hauled buckets of sand to help make concrete for the foundation.

Last day of VBS

by Naomi Bothe | June 28, 2016 9:16 PM

This afternoon was our last day of VBS. We had sooooo many kids show up! Pastor said that he has never seen so many children in his church before. We have all been so blessed by these kids this week.

Trip leader Annie had her birthday today!! The team was so sweet and made her a birthday cake out of pop tarts and Nutella. YUM!

Mystery solved!

by Naomi Bothe | June 29, 2016 9:29 AM

We have chickens in the yard where we are staying. 2 days ago Rachel found an egg in her bed and everyone thought it was a prank by the staff. This morning a chicken walked right in the front door, into the bedroom, and hopped right up to Rachel's top bunk! She was looking for her egg! We returned the egg to Henrietta (yes, we named the chicken), and she immediately sat on it and made herself comfortable. Everyone thought it was hilarious! *disclaimer* the staff relocated the chicken and the egg outside and nobody else handled the chicken. Rachel was also given clean sheets.
Mystery solved!

Goodbye!

by Naomi Bothe | June 30, 2016 8:20 PM

Yesterday we wrapped up our last day with construction on the gazebo and tree ministry in the morning, and a visit to Haiti House of Hope in the afternoon. This morning we got up bright and early, packed up the bus, said our goodbyes to Dr Paul and his family, and headed to Port au Prince. We will miss this place!
Goodbye!

Wahoo Bay

by Naomi Bothe | June 30, 2016 9:43 PM

After a long bus ride this morning we got to spend the entire afternoon at Wahoo Bay! The beach was beautiful and the water so refreshing. It was the perfect way to end an amazing week in Haiti. We are all excited to see our families tomorrow, & we will definitely take a piece of Haiti home with us in our hearts.

I love seeing the pics and how God is working through each of you. Keep the faith that all God's creatures have a place in the choir... pushy tigers, 'too many thoughts' foxes, harmonic pandas, and silly monkeys. God bless this amazing group with memories for a lifetime! Love you!!!
