PPM Disaster Response: Hurricane Nicole - Bahamas/East Florida
On Wednesday Tropical Storm Nicole made impact with the Bahamas bringing with it 70 mph winds and constant rain. It is expected to gain momentum and hit the East Florida coast as a Category 1 Hurricane late Wednesday night. The Governor of Florida has issued a state of emergency in 34 counties and mandatory evacuation orders in 4 counties. We are actively monitoring the situation and will be updating this page as we receive updates from our partners on the ground. Please join us in praying that the storm will remain mild and for the safety of those in its path.

Assessing the Damage
by Dillon Crum | November 10, 2022 11:18 AM
Initial reports from our partners in both the Bahamas and East Florida are that if they received any damage it was minor. The storm surge has caused coastal flooding and the wind has knocked out power to over 300,000 homes and businesses. Reports across the state are that Daytona Beach was hit hardest, with many beachfront houses collapsing due to the winds and storm surge. Our local Pelican Staff in Orlando have told us the wind is still nasty in their area, but it is nothing like Ian. Please continue to pray for the safety of everyone in the storms path. We will continue to monitor Nicole as the storm makes its way up the east coast, potentially impacting more of our partners on its way.
