Updates From The Field
Praising God for His Protection
by Dillon Crum | November 9, 2022 11:09 AM
As of today, our partners have all been checked on either in person or by phone. Thankfully, none of them sustained any major damage and the minor repairs are already receiving attention by the local community. Please join us in praising the Lord for His protection and care over our partners in Belize.
We also want to recognize there were many in Belize City who were more majorly impacted by Lisa. The government, along with our local church partners, will be working to help those impacted in their communities. Please pray for wisdom for our church partners as they work in their communities, and for those affected to receive the assistance they need. If you feel called to serve alongside our partners in Belize as they work through the long-term recovery please fill out a request info form and a member of our team will be in contact with you.
Assessing the Damage
by Dillon Crum | November 4, 2022 12:17 PM
Hurricane Lisa made landfall on Nov. 3rd. The U.S. National Hurricane Center reported Lisa had sustained winds of 85mph and the storms center was 10 miles southwest of Belize City. The storm surge caused flooding throughout Belize City and the winds destroyed significant amounts of infrastructure. Initial reports are that many in Belize City and surrounding areas are without power and water. The people of Belize City were asked to remain indoors as emergency response teams assess immediate needs. As soon as our partners are able to move about safely we will update you with what they are seeing on the ground. At PPM, Belize holds a special place in all of our hearts. Many of our partners in Belize have been part of our Pelican family since the inception of our organization. Please join us in prayer for the continued safety of our partners and for wisdom as we move into helping their communities recover.
