We Arrived!
by Team July 31, 2010 at 07:30 PM We made it! Our team safely arrived in Haiti today and we are now settled in to our lodging facility. Our lodging facility is about 45 minutes from the airport and we used all of that time to take in our surroundings as we drove through the heart of Port Au Prince. After arriving at the lodging facility, we settled in to our rooms and then had dinner. Fish and rice and beans were on the menu. Delicious! Following dinner, we had a team meeting where we met the rest of the group and received the schedule for tomorrow. Church is at 6am and it is expected to last 3 hours. We can't wait to experience what it is like to worship with another culture. Thank you so much for praying for us. We just received word that the power is going to go out soon, and it is almost time for bed. Pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. We are so excited to be serving in Haiti!

The pictures of the trip are wonderful. Connects me with you and what you are experiencing daily. Had 3L today and we prayed for you guys! Only one more day of work and then you will be making your way home. We miss you and look forward to seeing you on Friday. God Bless you both! Be safe and secure in your knowledge that God is all around you.
Love,
Mom
PapaHope you are cooler there than we are here. Had 3L today. Boys have baseball practice twice today - this morning and again at 4:00 this afternoon. Surveyer came today to lay out new lines. Two more days until we see you. Sure do miss you, but I know what you are doing is God ordained. May He continue to watch over you and give you conviction, purpose, protection and empowerment. Love you. :)
MomStacey and Kate: I saw the picture of your smiling faces with the children. I am so glad that you have had contact with these beautiful children. Kate, it made me think of Agnes and Caroline and how we are going some day to see them in Africa! You are missing out on some "tropical weather" here as the heat index was 118 today! We miss you so much and I can hardly wait for you to come home and share your experiences with us. Kate, on Sunday, August 15th, my kindergarten Sunday School class is studying missionaries. I would love to have you and Mitch come to our class and share with these Harrisburg children about the lives of those in Haiti. I helped Caleb, Sykes and Ryne get to Heaven Sunday night. Caleb will have to tell you the story. I have been doing my Bible study in Corinthians this week and God words are saying we should all be doing exactly what you guys are doing this week! I know you must feel Him all around you. Take care and know that we are praying and thinking about you. I love you both so much and can hardly wait to see you Friday. I think Joe is taking our car to airport because he has 4 guys that want to see you step off the plane.
I will leave you now in His love, Mom
From Papa:
Good to see the pictures of the two of you and to know that you are doing OK. Hope you are adjusting to the climate and the food without difficulties. Went to Proclamation tonight - only 8 persons showed up, including Chris. We spent the evening writing postcards to children who attended VBS that were not attending FBC. Joe and the boys are having supper tonight with Tom & Mary McSparin (I think this gives them a break from cereal and frozen pizza). I miss you but am comforted by the knowledge that you are responding to God's call in what you are doing there. Can't wait to see you and to hear all about your experiences. Remember, I love you. :)
CarolHey FBC Missionaries...that sound good huh? Hope you had an unbelieveably good day today and that God is in every move and thought you have. I just know He is. Since I can't even imagine what your day's are like I will wait until you all return to hear of God's success through you three. Guess you know this has earned you all nvitations to next May's Annual WMU Brunch at the Disneys to tell of your mission trip to our Women on MIssion group. I can assure you that the menu will NOT be beans, fish and rice.. Please take care and know that you all are thought of ,prayed for and loved in the Burg. God's Speed
RyneI'm glad you made it safely, and I'm just praying that God will use you guys in tremendous ways. I hope you enjoy this trip and that God will be glorified through all the work you do. Kate- i miss you so much! But there is no other place I'd rather you be right now. I'm so glad that God has called you to Haiti to help the people down there. Spend as much time as you can with the children, because I know you love them :) They will enjoy having someone there to play with and love on them. I'm sure you will bring a smile to their faces. I'm going to try and ride up with your dad and brothers to pick you guys up Friday. I hope to see you then. I am and will be praying for you all, and I know that God is watching over all of you. Just remember to stay optimistic and to give all the glory to the Father. I will see you soon!
P.S. Kate :)
"Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
Papa & NannySo glad you got there safely. Kate. how was the fish and rice? Hope you are all OK and feeling well. Hope you feel God's hand upon you and His will being done with you and through you. You are in my prayers. Remember, I love you. Papa
Stacey and Kate: It was so good to hear that Joe had actually talked with you yesterday. You have so many people here praying for you. I feel that God's hand is on you and the work you will be doing there. I am so proud of you both and send my love and thoughts to you in this email and in my prayers each and every day.
Love to you both,
Mom
Joe, Caleb, Cooper, SykesWow!!! What a surprise to hear from you yesterday. It was wonderful to hear your voice. Dozens of people from church asked all kinds of questions...I was able to tell them that God had safely guided you to Haiti and that they could follow along with your week on the website. We miss you very much, and we are praying that God will be glorified through the work you do this week. We are very proud of you all. We hope you have a great week and you are able to clearly see God's purpose for your life as you serve Him in Haiti.
We love you very much. Take care and continue to put your faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ.
