Belize Arrival!
by Josephine Penaranda
July 2, 2011 at 04:09 PM

Greetings from Belize! We have arrived safely. Right now, we're enjoying a delicious buffet dinner at Cheers Restaurant. Afterwards, we head to Sittee River. We're excited to serve and share God's amazing love. Families, thank you for your support and prayers.

Church and Home Visits
by Josephine P.
July 3, 2011 at 06:29 PM

We just returned from a wonderful church time. Getting to share Christ with the Belizean people was an amazing experience. Teri led worship time with lots of beautiful songs. Bernie gave a great sermon, reminding us what a faithful servant Jesus was and how He often prayed to draw near to our compassionate Father. This afternoon we got to do home visits and got to meet some amazing people. Our internet connection is limited so pictures will be posted as soon as we can have access. Please keep us in your prayers.

4th of July
by Josephine P.
July 4, 2011 at 08:02 PM

Happy Fourth of July! We've had a very eventful day. Praise Jesus for a great turnout during VBS time. The teens and Jack enjoyed riding the bus as Eustace, our Belizean driver, drove around the village gathering the kids to join in on the FUN!!

Music and Worship

Christie did a fabulous job leading the musical drama, while Teri led worship. What a joyful time to see many smiling faces as the Belizeans participated with acting, singing, and dancing.

Service Projects
by Josephine P.
July 4, 2011 at 08:05 PM

We went to Silk Grass and scrubbed down a couple of buildings and painted one of the schools. After our super-delicious meal of tasty rice, shrimp, and beef balls, we hosted another movie night to watch the second half of The Chronicles of Narnia. Pray that Jesus continues to open hearts for his glory.

Having a Blast!
by Josephine P.
July 5, 2011 at 06:56 PM

VBS was a success again! We also accomplished an incredible painting job at Silk Grass. Both of the school buildings and the shower rooms were beautifully painted. Everyone worked so hard. Great teamwork!

In the evening, we entertained the Sittee River children with a girls and boys night. Our teen missionaries pampered the girls with "girly" fun, while the boys hung out and played outdoor sports under the stars.

We are having a blast getting to know the Sittee River community. God is good!

(Reminder: our internet access is limited, so pictures will be posted at a later date.)

Celebration
by Josephine P.
July 7, 2011 at 04:21 PM

Yesterday, we finished the rest of our painting projects at Silk Grass. The bathrooms and their cafeteria building now beautifully match the two school buildings that we painted earlier this week. Also, last night’s celebration service with the Sittee River community was full of delight. We worshipped about how much God loves us with singing and dancing. After a few of our missionaries gave their testimonies, we continued to connect with the villagers in small groups, past midnight. Then at 4AM, we packed up the bus for our last adventure. Today, we are at Caye Caulker Island. We snorkeled and swam with stingrays and baby sharks in the Great Barrier Reef. We even saw a manatee swimming near our boat. We are excited for tomorrow’s flight home to share our memories of God’s evidences of grace during this awesome missions trip. Thank you for all your prayers!

Mark E., we're trusting that you have acquired some relief from your pre-departure allergy attack. Many prayers have been said for your comfort. Along with Hauve, Bernie, John & Ben, Matthew & Jack, we hope that you are feeling up to being the great role model (that we know you are), specifically to the men and boys in Sittee River. Thanks to the entire team for enduring a challenging enviornment to glorify God. We are praying for your safety and perseverance. Godspeed as you continue to be in relationship with one another, demonstrating and sharing His love. By the way, please let Raelynn know we are thnking about her (and SUNSCREEN)...hint, hint.

Praying for unity, trust, and a peace that passes understanding. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, Ps 40:3b,4a May the grace of Christ be in your hearts and your actions today!

Sherry Reisbig

Hi all (esp Raelynn)! So wonderful to see your group photo. It and gave me goosebumps because it was in the same spot outside the Belize airport that the first group "posed" two years ago. You all look like you're on a mission :), ready to SERVE! Dad sends his love; Amber says she likes your new glasses and hope you're having an easier time with bug bites. Hopefully the rain showers are giving you some relief from the heat. According to my Droid your nighttime humidity is 89-92%...YIKES! I'll be anxious to know if you're all going to do a village "walkabout" again this year. That was so meaningful. All of growth group is keeping tabs on you and, Teri, Krisi does have the link for the blog now. Love from Raelynn's mom.
