After 15 hours
by Cassie August 12, 2012 at 10:11 AM We arrived at our destination after 15 hours of travel! Wow, were we tired! We settled into our comfortable lodging location and enjoyed some time to fellowship before dinner. Pastor Alneve greeted us and we are feeling very welcome! After that, we enjoyed chicken soup and juice. It was so good! We had a good night of rest and were ready for church this morning!
A Beautiful Worshipby Cassie August 12, 2012 at 10:20 AM This morning we headed to church after breakfast and were blessed by the service there! The worship was amazing and it was so good to declare the greatness of God with our brothers and sisters in Christ! We were given the opportunity to share a song with the congregation, a couple of testimonies and Pastor Rob preached on how our God is greater than anything we will ever face! Praise God that He is the same everywhere!
Oh, King Nebbyby Cassie August 12, 2012 at 07:55 PM This afternoon, after a lovely time in a beautiful garden for lunch, we went to the church for the beginning of children's ministry. At first, there weren't many kids there, so we waited. By the time it was time for crafts and games, over 100 kids had shown up. They listened carefully to the story of Daniel, King Nebby, and the den of lions. They learned their verse from Isaiah 43 quickly and loudly too!
A full..fun dayby Al August 13, 2012 at 08:54 PM Today was our first painting day. After breakfast this morning, we gathered together, prayed over the day and headed to the our work destination which is a daughter of the church we went to yesterday and that Pastor Alvene oversees. When we arrived there, as soon as we got off the tap tap, a deacon and two other yong men from the church greeted us and told us that they were there to serve us. We felt so welcomed! So we took some time to look at and around the church and we were blown away by its beauty as well as its surroundings. Then we started moving benches away from the walls so we could sand them. With pieces of blocks instead of regular sand paper, we got the walls ready. That was cool to see how pieces of blocks could do such a wonderful job.
Focus Peter!by Al August 13, 2012 at 09:14 PM What a privilege we are given to be able to share the Love of our Lord with those kids and play with them this week! This afternoon, we realized how much we are welcomed by them. After a heavy rain, we were concerned that the kids were not going to show up and even pastor told us that he did not think they would. But as soon as the tap tap reached the church parking and we got off it, the kids grabbed our hands with screams of excitements. There were over 100 of them walking us to the inside of the church. They were there waiting for us under the rain.
Standing on the Rockby Cassie August 14, 2012 at 08:33 PM The morning flew by painting today! The church is looking so bright and beautiful--the sunshine today helped too after the rain yesterday. After a wonderful lunch, we headed to the church in the city to be swarmed by kids waiting for us. They were so excited to see us and sit on our laps and sing and play with us today. It was such a blessing to arrive there!
There were more!by Cassie August 16, 2012 at 08:50 PM Yesterday for VBS there were many more kids. The story was quite fitting about making fishers of men. We enjoyed singing, playing, and sharing the love of God with these children! There were so many of them for us, but the Lord was our strength. Praise God for all He has done.
A Brightness that will Shine!by Cassie August 16, 2012 at 09:07 PM Tonight, we had a meeting with the church. It was a beautiful ending to the week--after our time at the beach and Eden Haiti. We were overwhelmed that the church at Torbeck, where we had been painting all week, came out to thank us for bringing brightness to their church. They said things like, "Tonight, we are meeting in a new building...we didn't move." They talked about what God planned for the future of the church. The passion and thankfulness we experienced tonight was incredibly humbling. They were all so grateful that we painted their church. We will not forget our new friends. We will be praying for them as we leave.
